* " A federal judge said Tuesday he intends to order Google Inc. to turn over some of its Internet records to the U.S. Justice Department, but expressed reservations about requiring the company to divulge some of its most sensitive data — the actual requests that people enter into its popular search engine." * xymphora: "The Kafkaesque case of Zacarias Moussaoui has taken a further turn into absurdity with apparent intentional efforts by the prosecution to scupper their own case. The judge gave express – and very easy to follow – instructions to the federal lawyers to avoid tampering with their own witnesses, specifically ordering them to avoid exposing the witnesses to trial testimony. []
It is fairly clear that the prosecution fears that Moussaoui’s answer to the federal case, which turns on his failure to warn officials about the upcoming 9–11 attack, will be to raise a number of disturbing questions that have never before been properly considered. []
The final move, worthy of The Trial, is for the government to tank its own case in order that the defense of Moussaoui not raise issues issues of guilt that point, not at the defendant, but at the Bush Administration which is instructing the prosecution attorneys. "

* atrios speaks! "From a policy perspective I'm personally not really interested in compromising on sex or reproductive rights in order to get votes. As with every other issue of course messaging can be improved, though I'd rather focus on getting the "pro-choice for me but not for thee" crowd to understand that they are, in fact, pro-choice whether they know it or not rather than talking about how icky abortion is. I don't know why the public face of religion in this country is concerned with almost nothing but sex, but I'm not really sure those people can be reached."
