Blame it on the Irane

* Blame it on the Irane (h/t milli vanilli)
"The top U.S. military officer said on Tuesday the United States does not have proof that Iran's government is responsible for Iranians smuggling weapons and military personnel into Iraq.
President George W. Bush said on Monday components from Iran were being used in powerful roadside bombs used in Iraq, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said last week that Iranian Revolutionary Guard personnel had been inside Iraq.
Asked whether the United States has proof that Iran's government was behind these developments, Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Pentagon briefing, "I do not, sir."" (link)
i dont think there was a single true word in that speech that i picked (some of) apart yesterday - including 'the' and 'and' - hence my fury.

* it looks like i was right to doubt whether the reality of the DPW transaction would meet the headlines
me? right? what an idea!

* glenn:
"If these Democrats are afraid of a 34% dying Presidency, what aren't they afraid of? The good news is that Feingold seems as willing to stand up to these frightened Democrats as he is to take a stand in defense of our country's principles from the Bush Administration's relentless assault on those principles[]
Russ Feingold is definitely the most unpopular person in Washington right about now, which is an enormous compliment. He is making Republicans extremely uncomfortable[]
No matter what else he achieves, Feingold has singled-handedly catapulted this story back to the top of the news cycle, where it belongs. Despite itself, the Senate spent the last two days forced to debate the President's law-breaking. And now the Senate Judiciary Committee has another live matter relating to the NSA scandal in front of it"

* Anonymous Liberal (over at Glenn's) re Feingold:
"GOP strategists long ago realized that, in politics, the only difference between an "extreme" idea and a "reasonable" one is the number of politicians willing to endorse it.
[]
Do these (dem) "strategists" read the polls? Yesterday--while all this was going on--Gallup reported that the President's approval rating hit 36%, an all time low. Those are close to Nixon levels. And a recent Zogby poll found that 52% of Americans support impeachment if the President is found to have wiretapped American citizens without court approval (which, by the way, he has admitted to doing)."
(i emailed our spying/impeachment poll to Glenn the other day cos he often refers to the polling on this, but wasnt mentioning the zog/impeachment survery)
