bush inherited a recession

* emptywheel:
"Feingold managed this (censure) call with mastery. He provided little warning. Fristie's surprise (to Reid) attempt to ask for unanimous consent to vote immediately failed. And pissed off the boxer from Nevada in the process. And rather than staying on the Senate floor to debate Specter (I think Specter, having only had 20 minutes to prepare, really hoped he'd be able to attack Feingold rather than defend Bush), Feingold left and, presumably, got a head start talking to the press.

It was a masterful deployment of this motion this afternoon. I have every expectation that other Democrats will botch the support in spite of Feingold's best efforts. But for the moment, Feingold's motion succeeded in doing exactly what it was designed to do, demonstrate how devoid of all honor the Republicans have become, in their desperate attempts to defend the indefensible."

he's a hack.

Yep, Boehner's a hack all right. He had great difficulty explaining the Repugs distancing themselves from Bush. His argument: historically, when the Prez's figures are down so go the congressional returns, so loyalty is best. Apparently, staying on the Titanic is the preferred strategy.
