Wilkes' Sure Foundation

* "Lawyers for two airlines being sued by 9/11 victims prompted a federal attorney to coach witnesses in the Zacarias Moussaoui death penalty trial so the government's case against the al-Qaeda conspirator would not undercut their defense, victims' lawyers allege." (link)
this was jeralyn's theory

* one of our new readers - 227 fia - has been looking into Wilkes' Sure Foundation (aka dodgy charity). lots of interesting stuff there - you can read her TPMCAfe post here, and her comment at my place here (which has more info):
"The White House website has a reference to the Sure Foundation....
Two former directors of the DIA were on the Sure Foundation Board. One of them, Lt. General Patrick M Hughes was an MZM consultant between 2001 and 2002...
One director I omitted from my blog entry was Joseph W. Cornelison, former MZM legal advisor and the last US commissioner of the Panama Canal."
Wilkes and Panama go way back - Wilkes got a dodgy $10m contact to scan documents from the panama canal back in 1999 (?) - and Dusty Foggo and Wilkes used to spend a lot of time in that part of the world way back in the day doing possibly-dodgy stuff. Further, someone left an anon comment at my place a couple of months ago, saying that my buddy Michael Mack was doing some dodgy stuff in sth america, particularly panama...

227fia has promised us a closer look into the Wilkes Foundation - due out soon.

(btw - apologies again to those waiting to hear from me - i've had the perfect storm this week - crashing computer, crashing internet connection, and crashing Blogger - not to mention being hella busy. hopefully we can get back on track this weekend)
