one day i'd like to see someone do a study which looks at occasions where egadministration officials have more than one appearance on a particular sunday, and then compare the words that fall out of their mouths on each appearance. my guess is that 80% of each appearance would be identical. the talking point discipline is exquisite.
* driftglass hasn't done his 'sunday morning coming down' post this week yet. i fear we may not see it :-(
* our very own Rimone got a shoutout by RudePundit! Yay, Rimone! : "In the same post, the Rude Pundit called Bush the "anti-Midas," in that "everything he touches turns to shit." Blogger Rimone pointed out in an e-mail that (s)he made the same analogy back in November 2005. In order to demonstrate that the Rude Pundit ain't a filthy plagiarist, just that "like minds..." and all that shit, props to Rimone for beatin' the Rude Pundit to the punch and jab."
* rudepundit: "The real mandate-worthy majority of the nation is against the deal, not because the people understand the ins and outs of port security and international business deals. It's because the country is from the Middle East. And, extra special added bonus, it's got the word "Arab" in its name.
Therein lies the key to wrecking the Republican Party. Just as the GOP wants to exploit African American churches, traditional bastions of Democratic support, by pushing the gay marriage issue, Democrats can exploit the latent racism of many supporters of the Republican Party through a few easy steps.."

"We often wonder why people like Ledeen seem to be so interested in creating conflict for the sake of conflict. One reason is that people who are aware of the timing of a conflict are in a position to make money off it. Another reason is that this constant conflict constitutes the sole reason why these people have any power. They create an escalating series of problems, and then have to remain in power to ‘solve’ them. Of course, the solutions continue to lead to more conflicts. We can understand all the the talk about Iran as another example of creating a conflict which gives these characters something to do. While a civil war in Iraq benefits Likudniks in the American government and in Israel, it also benefits a guy like Cheney, whose only interest is in creating more power for Cheney. The United States has fallen into a vicious cycle where the jobs of the neocons and their fellow travelers like Cheney and Rumsfeld are dependent on their cleaning up the messes they have already started. An end to conflict would put them out of power, so we’ll never see an end to conflict. "
