* "The Sunday Times (UK) reports if the U.S. or Britain attack Iran's nuclear sites, they have an army of 40,000 suicide bombers ready to take revenge" (link)
i wonder if the stupid half of america still wants to start a new war.
* TomDispatch: "The words connected to almost any new poll these days are "hit a new low."... What makes the last few years so strange is that this administration has essentially been losing its campaigns, at home and abroad, to nobody. "
* Richard Holbrooke:
"The calls by a growing number of recently retired generals for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld have created the most serious public confrontation between the military and an administration since President Harry S. Truman fired Gen. Douglas MacArthur in 1951. ...shrill
Second, it is also clear that the target is not just Rumsfeld. Newbold hints at this; others are more explicit in private. But the only two people in the government higher than the secretary of defense are the president and vice president. They cannot be fired, of course, and the unspoken military code normally precludes direct public attacks on the commander in chief when troops are under fire"

I personally hate Brit Hume. When Cheney gave that interview after he shot that guy he gave it to Brit Hume. and of course he got no hard questions. When asked why he was given the interview, Brit Hume said that it was because Fox 5, and his show in particular, had the greatest audience. This isn't true, and will probably never be replayed again.
love the quotes. and a Rumsfeld resignation would be great!!! unfortunately it'll probably never happen.
hiya ellie - thnx for dropping by.
