war-gaming

* billmon: "I've been trying to picture what the world might look like the day after a U.S. nuclear strike on Iran, but I'm essentially drawing a blank. There simply isn't a precedent for the world's dominant superpower turning into a rogue state – much less a rogue state willing to wage nuclear war against potential, even hypothetical, security threats. At that point, we’d truly be through the looking glass."
i said READ THE REST!

* Arkin has a post up about iran war-gaming. lets hope someone is doing some peace-gaming

* AL: "So, after three days, they've settled on their spin: the President authorized discussion of the NIE but left all the details to Cheney and his aides."
i'm amazed that they didn't have a contingency plan for this - and it's taken them so long to settle on a message. remember, cheney already did his little bit of pre-emption with brithume - why have they stuffed this up so thoroughly?

* preznit speaks: "I know we're here in Washington; you know, prevention means force." (link)

* Ron has a ripper post about the zarqawi 'letter' and the zarqawi psy-ops, and the nyt getting played like a fiddle.
