* ew: "One more thing. Al Qaeda is not a nation-state. It does not have an internationally recognized right to protect itself. Iran does. If we attack Iran without UN backing and incite terrorist attacks in response, it will change the entire conceptualization of terrorism. Depending on the targets Iran hit, these terrorist attacks might well be legal. If we attack Iran and it responds primarily with 4th generation tactics, it may well represent the full maturation of 4th generation warfare, as a legitimate tactic wielded by a internationally recognized power using its legal right to defend itself."
* Kevin Phillips (author of "American Theocracy: The Perils and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century") got himself some op-ed space in the WaPo (!): "How the GOP Became God's Own Party"
* wiiiai: "Condi found the welcome in Blackburn so warm that she & Jack Straw quickly escaped to the more congenial environs of Baghdad. Actually, the purpose was to apply to dickering Iraqi politicians still unable to form a government after more than 3½ months the sanction of extreme scolding. Says Rice, “You can’t continue to leave a political vacuum.” Which is funny, because she works for a man who... oh, you were all way ahead of me."
funny.
* oooh - wasn't Timmeh fun to watch on sunday? he made mincemeat out of mccain, and in the best interview i've ever seen Timmeh 'give', he basically pointed the camera at zinni for half an hour and Timmeh basically just got out of the way.
