posting has been a bit sporadic the last coupla days, sorry bout that.
have had some family visiting - and today my 'puter went on the fritz - but i managed to buy a new one and it hasn't even crashed yet! i'd been having a bunch of troubles with my previous machine (i was crashing maybe 5 times per day) - and was almost happy that i was forced into a a new machine. hopefully i'll be able to deliver bloggy goodness even more quickly now.
i think i mentioned recently that some of the reasons for the recent formatting changes was because i'd been forced to switch from surfing in Opera to Firefox. One of the reasons i like Opera is because I usually have 20 or more (40?) web pages open simultaneuously - and if my computer crashes (or i have to shut it down), Opera will remember those web pages next time it opens. I'm amazed that none of the other browsers do that - it's so handy. With any luck my BSOD (blue screen of death) days are over - in which case it won't matter whether I'm using opera or firefox - so i'll play it by ear which one i use for surfing (I use firefox for actual blogging/posting)
for the macheads out there, yeah, i know. and for the microsoft-haters, i was actually considering a move to linux in the next couple of weeks - but given the unplanned nature of the 'puter meltdown today i decided to go with what i know so that i could be up and running again quickly.
so there you go.
apologies to those who have emailed/commented in the last few days if i havent responded. now you know why.
and to the most important question of the day - i havent got a real handle on the leopold/rove story for the reasons mentioned above. my general sense is that the story is probably, generally, accurate - i suspect that we will see indictments announced this week. the (almost) bigger story is the one i've been meaning to mention for the last few days - i suspect it will always be remembered as the moment the blogosphere collectively held its breath. the silence on many fronts has been truly remarkable. there's been a lot of chatter about jason in the comments everywhere - but the more remarkable thing has been the silence of frontpage posters. i suspect that there are many phd's waiting to be written on this very topic.
truly astonishing phenomena.
