Impeach Cheney First

* david swanson:
"Impeach Cheney First: The situation in Congress is as follows. Congressman John Conyers has taken the lead on the matter of impeachment and is not at this time prepared to move beyond his resolution for an investigation. Many other members are not leaders and will only sign onto someone else's initiative. Of those who are leaders, most defer to Conyers and are reluctant to step ahead of him, even as their constituents demand it ever more insistently. But introducing articles of impeachment against Cheney, and not Bush, is something that Conyers' office has suggested he would not oppose."
swanson notes, and I've said all along, that an investigation into either bush or cheney will inevitably lead to both of them being impeached - so its really just a question of politics.

* from the beeb:
"Iraq has accused Iranian forces of entering Iraqi territory and shelling Kurdish rebel positions in the north. Iranian troops bombed border areas near the town of Hajj Umran before crossing into Iraq, the defence ministry in Baghdad said on Sunday. It said the Iranians targeted the PKK, a Kurdish group that has waged a 15-year insurgency against Turkey." (link)
if true, this ought to turn out well.

* Driftglass on the GOP plan to give everyone $100:
"And finally they’ve just gotten so accustomed to treating their rank-and-file like their own, private Comin’ Home To Glory Hole for the last 30 years (that’s Galilean Year. In Creationist Years, they have been ripping off their obtuse base for…let’s see…carry the seven…divide by the age of Noah…for about the last 3/100th of a second) that they've started to take their hoors for granted.

They have grown so dependent on the clockwork reliability of the pig people selling out their own children’s future on demand for the price of a tax cut or a flag-burning amendment, or gay-bashing ballot initiative that have forgotten there is still an art to negotiating for the horizontal charms of anyone.

That there is still a cardinal rule when you're ripping off the stupids: That you have to at least try to fake up some respect for the rubes as you fleece ‘em. "

Conyers was the end of most the memo and leaks. His name is Con Yers. He was the last joke
