"Goss, then the Republican chairman of the House intelligence panel, was handpicked by the White House to purge what some in the administration viewed as a cabal of wily spies working to oppose administration policy in Iraq. "He came in to clean up without knowing what he was going to clean up," one former intelligence official said.* wapo:Goss's counterinsurgency campaign was so crudely executed by his top lieutenants, some of them former congressional staffers, that they drove out senior and mid-level civil servants who were unwilling to accept the accusation that their actions were politically motivated, some intelligence officers and outside experts said."
"But senior administration officials said Bush had lost confidence in Goss, 67, almost from the beginning and decided months ago to replace him."bwahaha. the loyalty president.
* wapo: "Foggo told colleagues that he will resign next week"
i wonder why they didn't retire him today? to try to separate the two resignations? that will look like a bad decision when foggo makes news again next week.
"Mr. Foggo is under federal criminal investigation relating to the awarding of CIA contracts..The criminal investigation centers on whether Mr. Foggo used his postings at the CIA to improperly steer contracts to Mr. Wilkes's companies...
No charges have been filed against Mr. Wilkes, although federal prosecutors in San Diego are working to build a case against him, as well as Mr. Foggo, people with knowledge of the investigation said.
The FBI and federal prosecutors also are investigating evidence that Mr. Wilkes had given gifts to Mr. Foggo and paid for various services for him while Mr. Foggo was in a position to help him gain particular CIA contracts."
* "'America is a nation of prayer. It's impossible to tell the story of our nation without telling the story of people who pray,' Bush said" (link)

Looks like Foggo has now gone ahead and resigned today!
CIA No. 3, facing bribe probe, quits
Now what was Bushco saying again? Goss leaving has nothing to do with Hookergate?
i wonder who organized the timing of the staged resignations
and i wonder how voluntary foggo's resignation was...
