It's over, folks.

* leopold was on ed schulz - basically standing by his story. transcript :
ES: Are your sources telling you . . . number one, are they communicating with you now?

JL: Yes.

ES: Okay. Alright. Number two, are they telling you that there is still a sealed indictment for Rove?

JL: Yeah. (Laughs) They're telling me that."
* jeralyn:
"It's over, folks. Karl Rove will not be charged with a crime. He's cooperated with Fitzgerald by testifying to the grand jury five times and providing whatever information he had without a safety net. Without a 5k. Without assurances he would not be indicted. That's a hell of a risk, but Luskin pulled it off. My hat's off to Luskin."

* rawstory: "Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) is requesting a Congressional investigation into Karl Rove's involvement in the CIA leak scandal"

* joe wilson's lawyer: "The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons."

It's over, folks.

It'll be good if he's been and shafted Dick Cheney good and proper though. If it's a straight fight, Bush + Rove Vs Cheney + Scooter, who does everyone else here think would come out on top?

emptywheel seems to think that maybe cheney went under the bus.

it sure will be an interesting battle... with so many skeletons in the cupboard (and in the sands in iraq) - there probably wont be any winners - the real question will be 'who doesnt end up on the bottom?'

rove is one of the most vicious operatives politics in the u.s. has ever seen... he has taken the national political discourse in this country to undreamed-of lows... he's despicable and deserves, almost more than cheney (and that's REALLY saying something), to go down... if indeed "it's over, folks," prepare yourselves for the nastiest mid-term elections you've ever seen... rove's comments today about kerry and murtha are not even a warm-up for karl... besides his usual bile, he now has revenge on his mind...

lukery,

emptywheel seems to think that maybe cheney went under the bus.

I read emptywheel in the next post up about 4 seconds after posting here (9:28 Vs 9:29). Yep - I've gotta agree with her. So when does battle commence? After Scooter does his thing perhaps?

profmarcus - rove is indeed a piece of work. there must be a lot of people who know a lot of secrets about him. let's hope someone stands up

simon - it's hard to think that scooter goes to trial. that hurts scooter, and it hurts everyone else. if scooter feels like he is being hung out to dry - then maybe he'll start to talk. if there are signs of a looming cheney vs rove battle, then the libby pardon becomes a little less likely...

lets hope he's sweatin
