On June 17, 2006, an article published here at The Dark Wraith Forums and cross-posted at Big Brass Blog was deleted from both Websites without the consent of the author and publisher.
To quote from that very article, "[I]f you're not afraid of this government, you should be; and if you are afraid of this government, you should be more so."
quod erat demonstrandum.
The Bush-critical posts had apparently been up at both blogs long enough to accumulate comment threads before vanishing.
More detailed commentary at this post. Check the comments, too.
Remember, it isn't paranoia if they really are out to get you...
It's not all Plame and Sibel. For those who love their conspiracies:
Catherine Austin Fitts(CAF) is a former Assistant Secretary of Housing for GHW Bush. She managed $300 billion of insurance, mortgages and properties for the FHA and was fired for uncovering $3.4 trillion of US government accounts fraud (link).
She then went on to start an investment company Hamilton Securities in 1990 after leaving HUD and in 1993 secured contracts with them for the repackaging and resale of defaulting HUD housing mortgages. According to CAF, she saved the US taxpayers billions of dollars. But she had inadvertently trampled on someone else's very lucrative earner.
HUD had been designed to get poor (mostly black) people into public housing and there was the usual over-billing and corruption practices going on. But CAF had devised software for Hamilton Securities that suddenly identifed unusual patterns of defaults on HUD mortgages in housing areas in which the CIA had admitted to facilitating cocaine trafficking by Iran Contra supporters. It seems the same people who were pushing the drugs in particular areas were cleaning up by cheap insider purchases with HUD when the drug users defaulted on their mortgages.(link) (link)
This made CAF the subject of harassment and the full range of drummed up DOJ and HUD investigations. She came up clean but was no longer eligible for any government work.
CAF also has some good stuff on the reliance of the US economy on drugs trafficking and gives a fascinating account of a July 1999 meeting in Colombia between NYSE Chairman Richard Grasso and warlord/drugs trafficker Raul Reyes of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC). Grasso was basically seeking assurances from Reyes on drug supplies in order to hold up the US financial markets! (link) (nice pic)
According to CAF, decriminalising drugs would gut the narco industry of its profits and bring on a massive financial meltdown. She is also prominent in the 9/11 Truth movement, has some interesting stuff to say about Enron, and has a blogsite. (link) (link)
it doesnt make any sense to take down just one entry when there are a gazillion critical posts every day.
While edgy, when I first commented, DW hadn't noted enough detail for it to cross the pure paranoia threshold. In a later comment he goes into that greater detail, and I am definitely concerned.
Please understand that politics and history, particularly in terms of cause/effect are my obsessive hobby. My background is IT. I've spent the last 18 months training and certifying on the heels of 9 years of independent hacking and tech work.
If it had been a single-sourced, single hosted post that vanished, that'd be one thing. This was an article posted at 2 separate blogs, hosted on 2 geographically separate servers, independent of one another and of Blogger's own servers. The post existed long enough on both to accumulate commentary, my best guess on evidence presented 6-12 hours. The only things linking them were the internet itself and the Blogger software.
While much has been made of PNAC's 'closing the doors' (reminiscent of PopMech's trumpeting the closure of Area 51), their white paper, Rebuilding America's Defenses, makes clear the importance of the internet. Page 57 begins the section labeled "Cyberpace [sic], or 'Net-War'" (emphases mine):
If outer space represents an emerging medium of warfare, then “cyberspace,” and in particular the Internet hold similar promise and threat. And as with space, access to and use of cyberspace and the Internet are emerging elements in global commerce, politics and power. Any nation wishing to assert itself globally must take account of this other new “global commons.”
The Internet is also playing an increasingly important role in warfare and human political conflict. From the early use of the Internet by Zapatista insurgents in Mexico to the war in Kosovo, communication by computer has added a new dimension to warfare.
The TelCo's cooperation with the NSA while they push euphemistically-named 'tiered internet services' are no coincidence. 'Net Neutrality' is far more descriptive of the issue, but still falls short of the true danger here.
Back to DW's lost posts, it sounds to me like some USG drone somewhere is playing with his new shiny toy net warfare kit and chose a relatively low profile guinea pig. If there's a message here, it isn't in what was deleted, but that it could be deleted.

It's a sign of things to come.
