"Bush’s failure to reappoint Fitzgerald would tell the nation that he doesn’t mind the kind of corruption that infects Chicago and Illinois. It will be the kind of surrender to the most destructive kind of politics that have disgusted so many Americans."* arkin:
"I suspect that once we learn more detail about "illegal" NSA domestic surveillance, we will find that there has been little abuse in terms of who has been monitored or how collected information has been used."hmm.

" The Bush administration is preparing a crackdown on intelligence leaks to the media and will try to pursue prosecutions in some recent cases, the chairman of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.
Michigan Republican Rep. Peter Hoekstra also suggested some unauthorized leaks could have been deliberate attempts to help al Qaeda.
"More frequently than what we would like, we find out that the intelligence community has been penetrated, not necessarily by al Qaeda, but by other nations or organizations," he said.
"I don't have any evidence. But from my perspective, when you have information that is leaked that is clearly helpful to our enemy, you cannot discount that possibility," he added."

I don't know what Arkin is talking about. I read through it and see about four different arguments branching off to nowhere.
The whole point of the ENTIRE F'ING terrorism issue is that nobody has bothered to define it...likely because the entire premise is absurd.
So we get guys like Addington and Cheney filling up the vacuum with their fascist fantasies.
it is a very weird post of his
i was gonna pull it apart - but havent had time.
i've said before that he's a schizo
Is Hoekstra trying to ramp up a new McCarthyism? Put this story together with his claims about suppressed government knowledge of concealed/moved Iraqi WMD's, and it looks like nothing so much as the days when old Joe McCarthy was ranting about traitors in the State Department turning China over to the Communists.
i dont know, anon.
let's hope the story breaks, and soon. i'm most curious about what is going thru his small brain
