singing the national anthem in Persian

* this also from larisa's alternet piece:
"The bar for High Crimes has been set so high now that for a sitting President to be impeached, he would be have to actually commit an act of murder personally, live and in color, while simultaneously burning the flag, pissing on a soldier's uniform, and singing the national anthem in Persian."
* via rimone, scott horton interviewed eugene jarecki (Why We Fight") back in feb. mp3 interview here . did i tell you that scott rocks? and that's he brilliant? and sexy?

* jeralyn:
"Addington comes off (in Mayer's piece) like a cancer in the Administration that kills off even the healthy cells."
* guardian:
"The US government said it could not find the men that Guantánamo detainee Abdullah Mujahid believes could help set him free. The Guardian found them in three days."

y'know, lately i've been wondering about all the outrageous stuff they've done over the last few years, each of which would be huge headlines in a more normal time, anyway, if there was a plan (or some kind of awareness) that when things would be made public, if they knew beforehand that they could rest assured and not really care that all this individual shit would be lost in the shuffle. this occurred again when i was reading the Guardian piece linked above.

i know we'll never know; just thinking out loud here, so to speak.

perhaps the best way to avoid indictment is to make sure that you commit lots and lots of crimes.

scandal fatigue: part of the plan

bah...i think i first heard the term 'scandal fatigue' about two years back, i think via Josh Marshall or Kevin Drum.

re your 'part of the plan' it's difficult for me to imagine they plan for anything, but you're prolly right.

and they say we're the ones who aren't patriotic. not that i was patriotic before (i totally wasn't) but one thing bu$hCo's done for me personally is reawaken my feelings for what this country used to stand for. i could scream.

rimone - i think they really must plan for a lot. otherwise, the wheels would have fallen off 5 years ago.

oh yeah--they plan when it benefits them personally.

the endless occupation of Iraq? not so much.
