stop bolton

via the wonderful kathleen, here's a stopbolton petition:
Dear Senator:

I urge you to speak up about and oppose the nomination of John Bolton to be U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

He is the wrong man at the wrong time for the wrong job.

John Bolton has spent his life undermining the work of the United Nations, and he has continued that work in New York.

Since being named ambassador, Bolton has managed to alienate many of our closest allies with abrasive, uncompromising, "go-it-alone" actions.

There are too many important issues at stake: the Middle East crisis, the nuclear aspirations of North Korea and Iran, and U.N. reform, to name a few.

I urge a vehement “no” to the Bolton nomination and a strong statement against it.

Sincerely,
meanwhile, eli thinks that bolton is good cos he's bad. i agree with eli's sentiments, but not the logic

While I haven't followed Bolton too closely, I do know that the Uselss Network is in dire need of reform.

Kofi Annan should be in jail instead of heading the UN for a wide array of criminal offenses.

The Security Council veto ensures little to no action is done.

If the UN actually passes a resolution, they can be ignored without any consequences.

The UN spends all it's energy giving endless amounts of money to third world nations, yet do nothing to address the closed economies and corrupt governments that squash any chances of process.

We need an organization for the leaders of all the worlds governments to come together to work on global issues, yet the UN has failed miserably at that.

So if Bolton is the thorn in the side of the UN, I say good. The UN needs to clean house and if our bull in the china shop helps that, all the better.

You mean like all the UN Resolutions that Israel fails to observe?

As for Kofi Annan's supposed criminal behavior, Cheney's back dealing to Halliburton makes Annan look like a saint.

Those with dirty houses should clean up their own backyard before calling other houses dirty. The US has forfeited its human rights leadership in the world because of the reckless, irresponsible, shoot from the hip bravado, insincere, disengenous lip service to the cause of freedom for the purpose of exploiting the patriotism of American citizens to enrich themselves.

This administration and anyone they appooint is utterly indifferent to the cost in lives of their power follies. They should be hauled off to Gitmo themselves.

P.S. As for pouring all that money into third world countries, helping people survive starvation and disease, how foolish and liberal. Much better to blow up billions every couple of weeks killing people.

That's the Neo-Christican way I guess.
