from LeeB in the comments:

Just saw Alan Dershowitz debate James Zogby on Larry King. Jeez Louise. Dershowitz sounded exactly like Darth Perle.

CNN reporting Lieberman has pulled ahead.

lukery said...

EGADS!

Miguel said...

Take the CNN report with a grain of salt. The reporter based it on a cheer she heard at Lieberman headquarters. Either way, it looks like it will go down to the wire.

lukery said...

i'll just keep updating this post.

i've got 68% counted 52 ned

Miguel said...

It's looking pretty good now for Lamont. I think it'll be pretty hard for Lieberman to close the spread, unless there are a lot of uncounted absentee ballots.

Zogby clearly won the debate. Dershowitz is full of shit. Isn't Zogby a Republican? How can I be cheering fro a conservative against a liberal like Dershowitz?

Sorry, coming in late, but it's looking good.

Lieberman 119,867 48.4%

Approx 1100 votes shaved off the lead from previous report, but still ahead by over 3%

Cool, regained a chunk of that lead!

Lead had dropped from c. 9200 votes to about 7700, then jumped to 8600.

The only lead in this race is in Joenertia's butt.

HA! I've been running around from here to DKos to FDL and round and round again, so imagine my surprise when I see you hollering at me!

I haven't heard a word from Kathleen since early this morning . . . Bet you 2 cents she's out amongst 'em. Now I have to go pour a glass of something. Why on earth did I forget to visit the liquor store before now. Vodka would really do the trick right about now.

(I'm still laughing at your announcement that the drinking has to start now if you're to be calmed down by November. Amen!)

lukery said...

aha - that's how i read 'lead' too - as in 'dodged a bullet or something.

Anonymous said...

Yes, much better, Luke. FDL is slammed. BTW, I don't know if there' a clip up at Crooks and Liars yet (who has time to look?!) but Kos was a guest on Countdown tonight interviewed by Keith for a good 4-5 minutes on the subject of the "hacking" of Joe's site. Pretty good.

Now, I'm stepping away from the computer long enuf to pour a glass of wine. Yay!!!

LOL! Kathleen is coming. Democracy is still rubbing the sleep out of her eyes . . . HEE!

lukery said...

yay 4 kathleen again :-)

how does she sound?

lukery said...

Democracy Van Winkle.

Anonymous said...

She sounded fine. I'll let her fill you in. We didn't stay on the phone so she could get online and check in with you herself. (Right. Dial-up. . . .urgh.)

lukery said...

dial-up? that's scary!

i know that she is a bit torn about this race - let's hope she at least had a fun day.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations guys! The voter turnout told the story. People power is definitely on the move. A very BIG cheer for Kathleen!

lukery said...

hi D.

50% turnout is incredible.

as kos said, that should wipe out NoJo's excuse to run again... but it wont.

Anonymous said...

Yup. Torn is a very good word. Not everybody would understand that, what with the "enemies" Joe has managed to create for himself among the rest of us.

I was about to wonder out loud what was taking her so long when it dawned on me . . . yes, it's a quarter to midnight in CT, but she's on DIAL-UP. Anybody want to make a bet she's encountering a boatload of busy signals?

This is such a hopeful day! I can't wait to see what kind of effect this has on the Congressional Dems. I hope Oldschool is right.

lukery said...

she's got a signal - i just got an email - yay.

it is a very hopeful day indeed. if we see others trying to ride the same wave, then that'll enable Ned and others to keep moving toward un-crazy - and it'll give everyone some space beyond the media constraints that have been created.

it sure looks like we've made a helluva breakthru - not so much today - but a few months ago. i'd put it at the decision to even have the debate, maybe. or perhaps the actual debate where ned didnt lose.

Anonymous said...

Oh, good. Progress!

I think the real breakthrough in all of this is what Kos has been working for all this time -- people power. Even this afternoon, while the NYT had a story on its front page about the Joe site "hacking" they had a comments section associated with it where people were able to post virtually instant evidence of the falsity of the report. I think Kos did a post on that. Did you see it?

lukery said...

i didnt see it specifcally on the nyt - but there was a lot of really quick debunking going on re that story at fdl and tpm and mydd and everywhere else.

a summery white wine for you tonight?

wow - leeB - that's great. i feel like one of those 'people' things they speak of in this 'people-powered-whatchamacallit' (fp'd)

Anonymous said...

one of those 'people' things LOL!

Yup. That's you. It is truly wonderful to finally see some effects on the mainstreamers. Mebbe they will decide that their survival now depends on respecting all of us out here and will start being a bit more respectful. We've had quite a time - especially this week - in letting them know we can make them totally irrelevant if they don't watch it.

Now, excuse me . . . back to the fridge to refill the glass. Back in a sec.

(Where is she, anyway? Did she decide to pack it in and post tomorrow?)

Anonymous said...

Well Damn Sam. I'm rubbing my eyes and looking at the news, asking myelf if it's really real. I remember what a rush it was when Joe Duffey won the primary in 1970. We were flying.

The three way is a major drain. Duffey lost because the Dems were divided. Joe L. is foolhardy to think Repugs will prefer him, rather than picking up the seat for themself. They want that subpoena power to stay with them.

The woodshed better be reserved for the week. There is some kind of back room deal in the works on Rummy and Lieberman. Chris Matthews joked about it on Keith Olberman's show. That's the second reference to it in a week. That helps the CT race, but what kind of Sec of Defense is he gonna be?

It was so hard to vote against an old friend. It made me sad. The day Gore announced Lieberman as his running mate, I was in D.C.on CT. Indian tribal business and celebrated the news of Joe on the ticket with Joe Duffey and Anne Wexler, the other key McCarthy, Duffey person. It was a memory lane thing. We were all good friends.

It was a gorgeous day here in CT. I went to vote at the Nathan Hale School. There were two Lamont people at the road, on each side of the driveway, so people would know where to turn in. Then another one at the edge of the path into the school. No Lieberman people, anywhere. I felt encouraged.

I went to the beach to chill and see if I could fathom how my little group of Holocaust survivors voted, without prying. it's been very difficult for them to decide because they were angry at Joe for Iraq and wished he would admit he was wrong. but then the war started in Isreal and Lebanon and their fear, I think made them seek hardliners, like this is good for Israel. I think this is the reason the poll margins narrowed. Plus Ned saying Isreal has the right to defend itself, was a turnoff to pro Palestinians, strong group here in CT. Ned will have to clean that up, or it will cut into his support, big time.

This race is a doozie, but then, aren't they all? It's been so fun nailbiting with ya'al.

Now Condi, them was some birth pangs. It's a new dawn, color it peach.

lukery said...

i think she must have had a long day - i don't think she'd mind if i published this little snippet from her: "I'm still reeeling with the reality."

LeeB - you should move the fridge a lil closer to your computer

lukery said...

hey kathleen! we thought you'd gone off to bed for some long deserved sweet dreams.

lovely to see you.

thanks for yuor stories.

if there's one thing we learnt today - it's that you dont need to be further right than the other candidate on israel. i hope that yuor analaysis is correct AND that candidates actually realise it. i wont hold my breath.

Anonymous said...

707! There you go again! I hadn't thought of moving the frig. Mebbe I could get one of those little dorm-size wonders to park under my desk . . .

Tomorrow should be a busy day for the staff at Harry Reid's office. I agree that this is a time for significant discipline among the Congressional Dems to squelch this independent run. Cooler heads had better prevail, dammit.

lukery said...

tomorrow will indeed be a day for soul-searching.

in the meantime - winning feels fkking great! i kinda forgot what it felt like.

btw - today is census day here - i feel like you are all here in my home - should i include you all on my list???

Anonymous said...

Hey, why not! Will including us get you some nifty bennies?

Some folks in the party need to do some serious thinking and sit that man down with a nice little church chat. You can bet I will be calling my own two senators, and certainly Mr. Reid, to suggest in loud clear terms that we deserve some solidarity from them in loudly supporting the winner of the CT primary. Otherwise, they are thumbing their noses at progressives all over the country.
But tonight is for celebrating, that's for sure!

lukery said...

what is a bennie?

my personal feeling is that they can't ignore the primary with 50% t/o.

CAN THEY HEAR US YET?

Anonymous said...

bennies = benefits

I suspect that yes, they can hear us pretty clearly now. Sam Seder made a great point concerning all the nasty remarks made by various media people to the effect that demonizing the blogosphere was akin to demonizing the telephone. What a hoot. So true.

lukery said...

lol. (fp'd) - all those angry ultra-leftist mcgovernite defeatist-wing telephone users!

first we gave the unwashed the damn usps AND NOW THIS!

Anonymous said...

Yo! Luke!!

I think you're gonna like this one.

It goes down very nicely with chilled Chardonay, I can tell you!

Whee!

lukery said...

omfg

that's amazing.

all week i've said that the post-election narrative will tell the story.

yay chardonay. mmmm goes down tasty!

yay hillary! (i never thought id say that)

Anonymous said...

It never occurred to me that we could begin seeing signs of which way the wind would be blowing before we were even all done with the initial celebration. Heck, on the East coast, it is just 3:00 a.m. . . . they didn't waste any time!

lukery said...

i knew it. tomorrow's media would tell the story. cant tell you how happy i am!

Anonymous said...

damn time zones!

congratulations Democracy, congratulations Kathleen and LeeB and everyone else. for once, i'm a happy grrl. :-)

lukery said...

please please please make it mean something.

i dont expect the democracy-givers to give a shit - but maybe the media narrative might change

Anonymous said...

Whatta night! Hi, Rimone. The time zones keep me totally confused, but one thing that is NOT confusing is that here on the upper left coast it is 1:45 in the morning and it would be prudent for me to pack it in for what's left of the night.

It's been fun partyin' with y'all . . .

Later -

lukery said...

sweet dreams my lovely friend.

today we achieved something. yay, us.

hey LeeB, love where your head's at and also love the fact that today, i'm basking in glorious and much-needed satisfaction thanks to good people like you, Kathleen, Lukery and all of the regular commenters here.

It's tommorrow and it's still real!!!!

I'm partial to bubbly and I'm gonna give my Bellinis a French twist. French 75 is a great champaign drink, 4 bottles of champaign, one bottle of brandy. So, I'm gonna make it with peach brandy. I'm purposely spelling it "champaign" for political celebrations.

LeeB, how bout an ice bucket next to the computer?

Clinking glasses with ya'll.

Luke, thanxxx for letting party at your place.

Anonymous said...

Lordy, Kathleen . . . if you're going to mix up that many Bellinis, we'll have no choice but to converge on your house to help you drink 'em all. I like the "French twist" angle - one more detail with which to drive the neocons crazy.

and you're right: ice bucket. Much more convenient.

Rimone, hang in there. I know exactly what you mean about depression. These last six years have been abysmal. It helps to be reminded I'm not the only one affected this way!

Luke, sorry to conk out before the after-party clean-up. ;-)

lukery said...

allo everyone - great to have you on board last night. the place cleaned up pretty well. i am missing my television, somehow (i havent looked in the pool yet)
