This is like prewar Iraq all over again

* reuters:
"U.N. inspectors have protested to the U.S. government and a Congressional committee about a report on Iran's nuclear work, calling parts of it "outrageous and dishonest", according to a letter obtained by Reuters.

The letter recalled clashes between the IAEA and the Bush administration before the 2003 Iraq war over findings cited by Washington about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction that proved false, and underlined continued tensions over Iran's dossier."

* wapo:
""This is like prewar Iraq all over again," said David Albright, a former nuclear inspector who is president of the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security. "You have an Iranian nuclear threat that is spun up, using bad information that's cherry-picked and a report that trashes the inspectors.""

"Dafna Linzer, the Iran War's A17 Expert

Remember how Walter Pincus, in the lead-up to the Iraq war, had everything right, knew they were lying us into war. But the WaPo invariably buried his stories while putting the warmongering on the front page?

I think Dafna Linzer has been placed in the same role with the Iran War. So far, she has debunked several of the key claims about Iran's nuclear program. And today, on A17, she provides a story about the IAEA smacking down Peter Hoekstra for his Fred Fleitz-written propaganda piece suggesting Iran has a nuclear program.

The article makes it all very clear. Among the other things the Fleitz propaganda did was claim that 3.5% uranium is the same weapons grade uranium as 90% uranium. And the letter notes the instances where the Fleitz letter ignored the requirements of the NPT treaty so as to launch baseless attacks on Iran."

Something else I'm not going to look up is this conspiracy theory, which I thought was legitimate news. Didn't President Ford's administration give Iran a nuclear reactor and everything needed to take uranium through the enrichment process? And then Israel blew it all up? So, now, Iran's enriching uranium and doing whatever it wants with it is a problem...WHY?

Here's another question: do any of you get tired of the Bush administration changing the rules midgame and then threatening to obliterate whole countries? Yes, I know you do. You aren't all fucked in the head.
