the bogey-man of impeachment hearings

* josh, quoting starroute: "To those whom much is given, much is expected in return."

* wapo:
"Bassett, Foggo, Wilkes and the unnamed person who received the large CIA contracts "apparently had dinner together at the Capital Grille in June 2003," according to the summary. Stern says that meeting warranted further inquiry but was outside his jurisdiction to investigate.

The summary says Cunningham had "dealings . . . with certain foreign nationals" that have apparently triggered inquiry by "law enforcement and national security agencies."'
wow. do we know who was at that dinner or what contract they are talking about?

* clemons has a run-down of who might be COndi's deputy. eric edelman is on the list. egads.

* clemons on the next steps for iraq:
"Cheney's team must be neutralized and set to the side of the policy process -- clearly demoted and moved out of the way for any Baker type plan to succeed in shaping an alternative direction.

Many see Rumsfeld's days now being really, really, really numbered -- and that he'll be gone soon. But that is not enough.

Cheney controls the interagency process through his minions. They need to be identified, demoted, moved to desks with good views of the garden, and kept away from this next round of policy work, coordination, and implementation.

Cheney remains the key road block for a Baker plan to have any chance of succceeding."

* tpm:
"In another sign that the political environment continues to shift favorably for Dems, six House races have suddenly moved from out-of-play likely Republican victories to competitive contests in the last week alone, according to a quick analysis of race rankings by nonpartisan experts done by Election Central."
* brithume's 'team' discussed the 'threat' of democrat-controlled congress - including all the hearings and so on. not once did they roll out the bogey-man of impeachment hearings. yay.

Nothing an impeachment wouldn't fix...

I wonder if stories like this had anything to do with it. Murdoch is, if nothing else, a shrewd businessman, and you'd have to be dead to miss which way the wind's blowing lately. Hannity and O'Reilly are still on the payroll, and I'm not holding my breath while waiting for a wholesale shift, but the times, they is a'changin'.
