"Just for future reference let's nip one pre-meme in the bud.

There are already a number of Republicans arguing that the election tide was beginning to turn their way before Hurricane Foley came ashore last Friday.

Not so."

I've missed writing to all of you. I did the cat rescue of the year this week, snatching a waif I'd been after for months. Today he tested hard positive for feline leukemia and I had him put down. He was the brother of my two house cats who avoided the trap and remained hidden for a year. I grieve and will miss my little friend.

I'm carefully studying the Military Commission Act passed by our wayward Congress and expected to be signed next week by President Bush. It is a loathsome piece of pig snot. When I am done, you'll see me be very shrill.

Thanks Lee and everybody. I'm growing a set of notes about the Military Commissions Act of 2006, and all I can say is it's so upsetting that it's sidelined my whole mental process. Add to that, it's been over 10 days since the Senate approved it and we don't have news as to whether Bush signed or vetoed it, and I'm rather confused. So, in addition to preparing my remarks, I need to find out about that. What has been written about the Act is stunning enough, but what hasn't is even more astonishing. It makes me question how much in depth an analysis should go. It may be sufficient to say that where a military commission is in action, people should avoid encounters with law enforcement at all cost.
