Get up, stand up

From the lyricist post, Kathleen pointed to Bob Marley. It feels appropriate for some reason:
We sick an' tired of-a your ism-skism game -
Dyin' 'n' goin' to heaven in-a Jesus' name, Lord.
We know when we understand:
Almighty God is a living man.
You can fool some people sometimes,
But you can't fool all the people all the time.
So now we see the light (What you gonna do?),
We gonna stand up for our rights! (Yeah, yeah, yeah!)

So you better:
Get up, stand up! (In the morning! Git it up!)
Stand up for your rights! (Stand up for our rights!)
Get up, stand up!
Don't give up the fight! (Don't give it up, don't give it up!)
Get up, stand up! (Get up, stand up!)
Stand up for your rights! (Get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Don't give up the fight! (Get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up!
Don't give up the fight!

yup, Marley was the man and his lyrics are fantastic.

on the other hand, there's Jim Jones (whom i hate apart from here, in the beginning; AFAIC, this tune rouses me and incites more anger, e.g., 'if i had hated a little more, just a little more, we would've had a little less trouble' which i TRULY believe (message to Al Gore back in 2000):

Mao Tse Tsung Said (change must come)

yes, i'm a bit crazed today. listen to Jim Jones roar...'i'll fight, i'll fight, I WILL FIGHT, I WILL FIGHT...' which is exactly what i wanted the Dems to do lo these many years ago.

The Goddamned Dems!!! Why they cannot use the english language to their best interests drives me completely insane!!! I told them to hire Stephen Colbert, he could show them how to tear the Repugs a new one.

Kathleen...you TOLD the Dems to hire Stephen Colbert? COOL! good on you; whether or not they get hip, maybe this time, now that we've won, they'll be waking up to the uses/abuses of the English language better.
