...as any thinking human being would

* digby:
"Al Gore is really too good for politics. He's more like a prophet than a politician at this point. I almost don't want to see him enter the fray and take the disgusting offal they will throw at him. But I love the guy and if it happened I can't think of anyone who'd make a better president."
* from TIme's coverstory about YOU:
"If Warhol were living in the Web 2.0 era, it would be interesting to see if he would use the medium as a chance to reveal something about himself or to obfuscate even more effectively. He'd probably do both— as lonelyboy15. But YouTube is Pop art in a form far closer to Warhol's original, uncorrupted vision than he could ever have imagined. And 15 minutes has been replaced by a new prophecy: "On the Web, everyone is famous to 15 people." Appropriately enough, many people share authorship of that one."

* wapo A1 has a piece on bush's stubborness resolve. fair enough. deep in the piece we get this:
The perception of Bush as unusually stubborn has defined his tenure to some extent, much to the consternation of adversaries and sometimes even allies.
wtf? thank you dear CorpMedia for promulgating this meme for 6 years. Most of Bush's adversaries are anything but 'consterned' about his stupidity.

the article ends with this:
""He changes his mind all the time, as any thinking human being would," said David Frum, a former Bush speechwriter and sometime critic. "He probably changes his mind somewhat less than other politicians do, but he's not set in concrete." Having said that, Frum said Iraq is too critical to waver on. "A lot of people want him to change his mind on the central decision of his presidency. And on that, he hasn't, he shouldn't, and he won't.""

Apparently Iraq isn't so critical that a qualified POTUS is required.

Was the current state of Iraq inevitable? That is the question that assholes like Frum like to ignore.

Wouldn't you love to see the mainstream media once, just once, present the opposing viewpoint--that war is bad, a crime against humanity, and that promoting war is also a crime? Instead, writers and editors want everyone to be like they are, children who worship the latest Billy The Kid type. It's pitiful, it's pathetic.

Please excuse my silence. I'm reading the blog everyday but it's really busy here and will remain that way for awhile. The kitties are happy and healthy, and life is good.

Thanks and seasons greetings and felicitations to all of you! I was having a cat food crisis, so I laid in a supply of about $200 worth for some variety and cooked them a 17-pound turkey. That cheered them up. I procured medicinal herbs and am pleased to announce that consumption of medicinal herbs reduced my growing prostate, and I have been urinating like a guy of twenty-something. Isn't that great news? It came as a big surprise to me. Is there anything magic herbs don't do? Here's to your health, and to vicious lawmakers, up yours.

wheeeee! i never met a kitty who didn't love turkey.

and i'm pleased about your peeing like a 20 year old again.

unfortunately, herbs never worked on me for whatever problem for which i took 'em. me too hardcore, unfortunately.

oh wait...do you mean 'herb?' that works, in fact it's working right now. :-)
