hundreds of Americans and others suspected of terrorism or espionage

ok - so there should be outrage about the fact that the Pentagon is rummaging through everyone's financial records - in the interim, i'm outraged about three things:
1. the NYT's anodyne headline is "Military Is Expanding Its Intelligence Role in U.S."
2. the opening para in the NYT is " The Pentagon has been using a little-known power to obtain banking and credit records of hundreds of Americans and others suspected of terrorism or espionage inside the United States, part of an aggressive expansion by the military into domestic intelligence gathering.'
hundreds? any bets on how early we start adding zeroes to that? any bets on how many zeroes?
3. there's a big photo of James Yee attached to this story, and it's oddly off-center. can anyone explain why that is there?
