i hate the AP

* AP headline:
"Americans unaware of Iraqi death toll.
Poll shows knowledge of U.S. dead, but huge underestimation of Iraqis"
that's a good start from our friends at the AP. i wonder why americans are unaware of the iraqi murder toll? how could americans be so stupid misinformed? the only information on the actual number of dead iraqis in the AP article is :
"Iraqi civilian deaths are estimated at more than 54,000 and could be much higher; some unofficial estimates range into the hundreds of thousands. The U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq reports more than 34,000 deaths in 2006 alone.

Among those polled for the AP survey, however, the median estimate of Iraqi deaths was 9,890."
fuck i hate the AP.

Yes, it's very sad. My undergraduate degree was journalism and we studied the AP stylebook. Then, it was the leading authority, as was AP's whole news philosophy. Years later I went to our local AP office to ask if there was work available, and was treated in the most deplorable manner by an ugly little troll of a man who both times wound up screaming at me and attacking everything from my application to my mother's shoes. A simple "no" would have been sufficient. When I got my first job as a news writer, I had some very exclusive photos on a world class story which I gave to AP free of charge. They didn't even say thanks. If I ever have an interesting news item to report, any query by AP will get a prompt "fuck off."
