Monica bails (guest post by Uranus)

AP: Saying her resignation was expected, it's "like daughter, like mother":

“She told me I’m to say ’no comment’ for everything,” the mother said in a brief telephone interview.

With each update, the story becomes more succulent. Monica believes the best way to deal with her problems is to run away. Maybe she thinks she can work out an immunity deal, because Conyers would still like to hear from her. But, of course, I don't presume any of these people are GUILTY...

Ooh--FIREWORKS. My German is nonexistant. I was looking at the merchandise thinking, "well, these are about the nicest dildos I've ever seen. Sorry about that.

It's looking like multiple counts of obstruction of justice. Hopefully, we won't have to hear Goodling's lawyers spew any more bullshit for a while. They accused the Democrats of McCarthy-like tactics. Ha ha.

My free advice to Goodling's lawyers: When your client helps trash the integrity of the US Attorney system...you might want to keep the self righteous blather to a minimum.

I wonder how soon she'll try to get a name change so that she no longer is "the new Monica"... That probably wouldn't work now though. It would just be one more thing that she would be viewed as "running away" from! Perhaps a pissed off judge can say that he'll let her change her first name from Monica to something else, if she also changes her last name from "Goodling" to "Badling"! :) I guess it's also very hard even to get a decent picture of her online now. Even her school pictures from school have been suddenly removed.

Yeah, she doesn't look guilty! Thanks for those kind words, Damien. My reading of the news is superficial compared to Luke's and my comments aren't so much. But when I called Bush President Dickhead, it was one of my finer moments.

I saw someone ask on another blog what crime had been committed, so I asked Janet. Monica is thought to have played a part in requiring assistant and deputy attorneys general to swear an oath of loyalty to George Bush. Janet said we have a state law, and there probably is a federal law, which prohibits that practice unless swearing an oath is required by another statute. It's probably not harshly penalized, but I don't know. It is bad conduct. though, since attorney general appointments are career jobs, and replacing AGs midterm is suspicious. Did Monica dream up this practice of swearing loyalty oaths? What would the practice be called? Oathing? And the practitioners? Oath scum bags, no doubt. Damn religious fanatics.

And, does this mean something we should anticipate? If the Bush administration is true to form, the answer is yes. As surely as attacking Iran would launch World War III, and Bush/Cheney can't be expected to resist doing it, and people swearing oaths to tin gods, could it be Bush and Cheney plan to stay in office beyond the end of their term? It won't surprise me at all.
