a libby pardon

* arianna: "Note to Scooter: stick to the deer-fucking." (if arianna can swear on her blog, i can too)

* laura points to this story of journalists shaking down rich people for positive coverage. sweet.

* "To defend himself, Libby may now want to call both Cheney and Bush as witnesses at his trial. That is not likely to endear him to the president—the one man who has the power not only to declassify secrets but also to pardon convicted felons." (link)

* similarly, Laura points to this in the LAT: "The special prosecutor signaled in his court filing last week that he intended to call several former Bush aides as witnesses against Libby, including former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer — raising the specter of court proceedings that could lay bare the inner workings of the White House.
"I can't imagine this case going to trial," [former Reagan era prosecutor Joseph E.] DiGenova said. "You'll see a pardon first.""

* in a very odd teeve moment, brithume was interviewing the ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad - and they had some footage of jafari with the text "solution or problem?" as they do, but then they showed some footage of condi with the text: "more harm than good?" - i suspect that was a mistake...

* timmeh asked John Kerry if he thought the president should be impeached... kerry said 'no'

Kerry said no-because being a lawyer, he knows he should be indicted first, the crimes are so henious.
