Why did Judith Miller go to jail?

* "And Fitzgerald is also slowly, methodically, inexorably driving a wedge between Bush and the OVP. Even as Bush depends on Cheney and Libby to keep quiet and protect him, he is forced to publicly repudiate and distance himself from them" (link)

* jeralyn: "I still think Fitzgerald's goal is Dick Cheney. If I were a reporter, that's where I'd be looking. I'd take another look at David Addington, as well."
pls pls pls pls pls

* jeralyn: "Here's a question I'm not seeing answered. If Libby was authorized to disclose newly declassified information to Judith Miller, and if it was all on the up and up, why did Libby, Cheney and Bush let her do 85 days in jail for refusing to say she got the information from Libby?"

* WaPo editorial (via dkos):
"Mr. Wilson subsequently claimed that the White House set out to punish him for his supposed whistle-blowing by deliberately blowing the cover of his wife, Valerie Plame, who he said was an undercover CIA operative. This prompted the investigation by Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald. After more than 2 1/2 years of investigation, Mr. Fitzgerald has reported no evidence to support Mr. Wilson's charge.
...
The material that Mr. Bush ordered declassified established, as have several subsequent investigations, that Mr. Wilson was the one guilty of twisting the truth. In fact, his report supported the conclusion that Iraq had sought uranium."
amazing.
