An important historical novelty here is that Waxman's compilation of irrefutable criminal activity also guarantees that if Bush goes, so do Cheney, Rumsfeld and Powell. What then?

The problem (and the reason why the Fed is so nervous right now) is that as long as the unemployment rate remains above the NAIRU, the inflation rate will fall ? and keep on falling. Soon 3% CPI growth will become 2%, then 1%, then 0, then negative 1%, negative 2%, etc.

There?s an inscription at the entrance to the CIA, chiseled into the marble there, which reads, ?You Shall Know The Truth, And The Truth Shall Set You Free.?
My analysis is that George Bush had no option but to keep George Tenet on as Director, because George Tenet had warned Bush repeatedly, for months and months before September 11, that something very bad was about to happen.
On August 6, the title of the briefing was, ?Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the US,? and that briefing had the word ?Hijacking? in it. That?s all I know about it, but that?s quite enough.

General Wesley Clark appeared on a Sunday talk show with Tim Russert on June 15, and Clark surprisingly mentioned that he was called at his home by the White House on September 11 and told to make the connection between those terrorist attacks and Saddam Hussein. He was told to do this on the day of the attacks, told to say that this was state-sponsored terrorism and there must be a connection.

One other thing I?d like to note is the anomaly that President Bush has succeeded Saddam Hussein in the role of preventing UN inspectors from coming into Iraq. He has not even been asked why.

Four months ago, I would have said, ?McGovern, you?re paranoid to say stuff like that.? But in light of all that has happened, and light of the terrific stakes involved for the President here ? each time he says we?re going to find these things, he digs himself in a little deeper ? I think it?s quite possible that they will resort to this type of thing.

America?s capitalist business culture forces Leftists either to drop out of mainstream society, which can be terrifying, or drags them into the Office World, which is crushing. In other words, it?s nearly impossible to be a Leftist and a mainstream American, but easy to be a Right-winger and in the mainstream.

The appointment of career covert operative and Annapolis graduate Richard Armitage as Deputy Secretary of State under Colin Powell only underscores the clear message that the Bush Administration is sending to the world.
