Amanda Blair and another female student said they were so angry at the rule and the homophobia at Big Piney High School that they decided to challenge it, going to a high school homecoming dance together earlier this month. They were escorted off the property by police.

People preferred their male candidates to have short-clipped hair, thin lips, a prominent jaw line and a lot of curvature on the upper eyelid. And the more formally dressed the faux candidate, the more favorably voters responded.

"Our goal is independence. Nothing more, nothing less," Miller said. "But we're not violent. We're not a militia, not militant, not wearing camouflage, although some of our individual citizens may be members of other groups.

Publishers of the Revolve Bible call this a new look at the New Testament one that offers a trendy alternative for teens. "It's exactly like a magazine," says Creason. She likes the idea of getting fashion and beauty tips with a biblical perspective. She even takes her Revolve Bible with her to school. "It's advice for life, but it's God's advice."
"It's like a break reading from scriptures"

Consider the political meaning of all this. Hillary is a Democrat who has no regrets for voting for the resolution empowering the president to invade Iraq; who insists repeatedly and resolutely that "failure is not an option"; who is ready to send in a substantially greater U.S. force to avert any such policy failure — and yet whose latest poll ratings show her to be the favorite of 43 percent of Democrats, three times the nomination support given front-runner Howard Dean.
Thus, envision this G.O.P. whispering campaign soon directed to women, liberals and the legions of centrist, semi-hawkish, non-angry Democrats: If you want the Clinton Restoration to the White House in '08, the only way to make it happen is to stay the course with Bush in '04. A dirty trick? Undoubtedly. I disavow any connection to it.

As well as the Japanese diplomats, seven Spanish intelligence agents, two South Korean contractors and a Colombian sub-contractor were killed in a bloody series of separate insurgent attacks last weekend.
Despite the deaths, Japan is expected to approve a plan next week that will allow for the dispatch of some 1,000 military personnel to help rebuild the oil-rich country, Japan's media reported on Thursday.

Iraq delays hand Cheney firm $1bn
Halliburton, the engineering group formerly run by US vice-president Dick Cheney, has been given $1 billion worth of reconstruction work in Iraq by the US government without having to compete for it, thanks to repeated delays in opening up a key contract to competition.

President Bush's chief of staff, andy card, dismissed as "a moot point" any lingering question about whether Bush relied on faulty intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq.
Overall intelligence has been "very, very good," Card said
When you go there today, and you see some of the mass graves of the dead, where he murdered his own people, you just can't help but think that we are much better off," Card said on CNN's "Late Edition." "So I think it's a moot point. The good news is Saddam is no longer a threat to his own people."
mr ed - the mass graves are mostly lies.

In his first interviews on the Sunday news shows in nearly a year, Card fended off sharp criticism on Iraq from prominent members of both political parties.

Bush "is taking an appropriate line on spending. He is a great watchdog for the taxpayers' money," Card said on Fox.
"Spending is up, the government is larger than it's been in years, and this is the administration that's promised to cut both," Kerry said in a conference call with reporters. "They ought to win a Pulitzer Prize for fiction if they can pass that one on."

"It's possible to use anything for torture", says a US manufacturer of electro-shock riot shields, "but it's a little easier to use our devices."

A seventh-grade social studies teacher in Presque Isle who said he was barred from teaching about non-Christian civilizations has sued his school district, claiming it violated his First Amendment right of free expression.

Superintendent Gehrig Johnson said on Tuesday that he had not seen the lawsuit, but he noted that the curriculum has been "developed by teachers across the district and adopted by the SAD 1 School Committee."

The Penn State Black Caucus demanded that the chairman of the university's College Republicans resign after finding on his personal Web site a photo of a white man in blackface and another with a Ku Klux Klan reference.
One shows a white man in blackface, with the caption: "Apparently Takkeem was released long enough to come to our party. We thank the local police department."
A second photo shows a white man wearing a pillow case as a hood with the caption: "He took a break from cross burning to drink a cold one."

babesagainstbush.com - cos hot chicks hate him too

From the very beginning, George W. Bush has never appeared comfortable to me when discussing Jesus Christ, his so piously and so publicly professed mentor. I can remember the Presidential debate when he was asked which philosophers in history he admired (strange question I thought at the time, in retrospect I would not be surprised if Karl Rove had a finger in that pie). He replied with his face slowly coloring, and in what I thought, a very self aware and awkward fashion, "Jesus Christ". His voice, fidgety manner, and body language -- beyond just the normal nervousness of the debate -- revealed a man that I thought was not being true to himself and genuine. I can remember feeling uncomfortable for him, and thinking, "How can one sink this low, to use the faith of good and religious people for political gain? How could one so callously betray so many others?"

my input:
hiya - luv ya work.

i just wanted to point out that the 2 'breakfast in baghdad' items on your list arent actually accurate. the error was that a reporter on the trip (mike allen) said AM instead of PM. if u fix those 2 then you'll have a terrific list - better than letting the horrible attack dogs shoot the mesenger and denigrate the rest of your great list... the constraint of the '99 reasons' is probably being generous...

just like in a novel by Sinclair Lewis, if piety is easy to find, then so is hypocrisy.

Liberals: Worry less. Stony no longer supports George Bush: "Because of the war. Too many people dyin'." Neither does his drunken friend, who pipes up: "I hate him. Because there are kids getting killed every single day."
Worry less. But worry still.

A few moments' Web research is all it takes to learn that the next town I visit, Byron, "the gateway to the Rock River Valley," supports 13 churches for a population of 2,284 and is named for the Romantic poet; that George Bush beat Al Gore in this county by 23 points; and that its two "major industries" are Quality Metal and Bergstrom truck heaters. It takes considerably longer to learn that this is all a convenient fiction: Byron's actual major industry is a $3.7 billion nuclear plant that once earned the distinction of becoming the first in history to have its application for an operating license flatly rejected by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
John: "All this shit is Clinton's fault. . . . This'll probably be the first year ever that I vote a straight Republican ticket. 'Cause all them Democrats, bad-mouthin' Bush, sayin' he didn't have it planned out right, all that crap—they didn't even have a clue what was going on!"

Now he's thinking about moving away, Dion says. He trails off. "It just makes us scared to be us. . . . "

the government now spends $20,000 a year for every household in America, the most since World War II.

"President Bush has yet to meet a spending bill he doesn't like," The Wall Street Journal complained in a recent editorial denouncing what it called "the GOP's spending spree."
By Cato's accounting, after adjusting for inflation, nondefense spending decreased by 0.7 percent during Clinton's first three years in office, while it increased nearly 21 percent during the comparable period under Bush.

corporate murderous gangsters (flash movie)

The Justice Department has sharply increased prosecution of terrorism-related cases since the Sept. 11 attacks but many fizzled and few produced significant prison time, a new study finds.
About 6,400 people were referred by investigators for criminal charges involving terror in the two years after the attacks, but fewer than one-third actually were charged and only 879 were convicted
The median prison sentence was just 14 days, said the study by clearinghouse co-directors David Burnham and Susan P. Long, lealeased Sunday. Only five people were sentenced to 20 years or more.
. Prosecutions of individuals suspected of ties to one category, international terrorism, jumped from 142 in the two years before Sept. 11, 2001, to 748 in the two years after. Yet only three people in that category since the attacks have drawn sentences of five years or more, compared with six during the earlier period.

Let's face it, the government is corrupt and beyond redemption. There is nothing we can do *individually* to reverse the slide into fascism. What you do with your money is irrelevant because they own the printing presses and the armies... and the prisons, and all of the police, and the press and the judges and most of the juries.
