MADRID, Spain (AP) -- The judge investigating the Madrid terror attacks has warned that although many of those suspected of carrying out the bombings have been jailed or killed, others who provided logistical support may be taking over operations.

In his written ruling on Monday, Judge Juan Del Olmo did not specify the number of people who helped the March 11 bombers and were still at large.

But he pointed out that at least one of the suspected bombers fled the apartment outside Madrid where seven suspects blew themselves up April 3 to avoid arrest.

In his ruling, Del Olmo said his investigations showed the practical preparations for the attacks took less than six months. He said efforts to obtain the stolen dynamite used on the trains began in the final quarter of 2003 and that the mobile phones used to set off the 10 backpack bombs were obtained between February 25 and March 8, three days before the attacks.
