The upshot is that, with a Kerry victory, all meaningful debate on the war – such as over the question of whether Iraq is worth it – would be effectively ended, with both parties competing to see who can "win" a war that cannot be won, short of eviscerating and "transforming" the Middle East while bankrupting ourselves and suffering untold thousands of casualties in the process.
