its the economy with morality, stupid.

* theres this ongoing thing about 43 wearing a wire in deb1 - even salon have a bit on it. i dont dont for a minute that 43 might be wired, but the arguments for it seem ridiculous - the foto of his back being a classic. what sort of presidential technology requires a big box??? its *almost* as tho its a rovian redherring...

* "Duelfer said he believed when Hussein began discussions with the United Nations in late 2000 about readmitting inspectors, "to me that was a very key indicator that there probably wasn't large stocks there to be found." When the U.S. troop buildup began in the Gulf, it became "clear that Saddam chose not to have weapons at a point in time before the war," he added." duelfer (who is presumably some kinda am expert) kinda figured before the war that there werent any weapons.

* krove is on hannity postdebate

* krug "When leaders live in an invented reality, they do a bad job of dealing with real reality." http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/08/opinion/08krugman.html

* is 43 the nickgleeson of politics?

* " To say that I consider Bush a "bad" president would be a severe understatement. I think he's bad in a way that redefines my understanding of the word "bad." I used to think U.S. history had many bad presidents. Now, my "bad" category consists entirely of George W. Bush, with every previous president redefined as "good."" lol - nice to see this in a majorpaper http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-chait8oct08,1,448797.column?coll=la-news-comment-opinions

* "As Michael Kinsley sagely observed early in the Administration's tenure, "Bush II administration lies are often so laughably obvious that you wonder why they bother. Until you realize: They haven't bothered. If telling the truth was less bother, they'd try that, too. The characteristic Bush II form of dishonesty is to construct an alternative reality on some topic and to regard anyone who objects to it as a sniveling dweeb obsessed with 'nuance.'""

* b4 the last debate, i suggested we look out for tech problems - it seems that they arent so brazen to do it during the main act, but they do it in the postgame when talking to dempundits.

* " The moderators must not forget that as fiery a topic as Iraq is today, a right-wing Supreme Court will scorch Americans for generations to come." http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/10/08/wheres_debate_about_supreme_court?mode=PF

* in voting parlance, we have decideds and swing voters. ie swing voters are undecided. we're told that there are lots of decideds - say praps 90%. given the way the polls jump around (kerry +6% in a week), then these 10% of swing voters should probably be called roundabout voters. can someone tell them that just cos they are undecided doesnt mean that they *must* change their minds every week. ie u can be a swing voter who hasnt yet changed your mind. the alternative explantion is that there are actually a whole bunch of undecideds, but that they havent actually 'swung' yet, and they may or may not.

* and then there are those pesky nonvoters. presumably overweight with youngsters? praps kerry should do a getoutdavote thing and tell kids that 43 hates condoms and given how crazy he is, he might not stop at roevswade, but try to ban/restrict condoms - like they do in afrika etc etc. and u'll get aids. that might turn some nonvoters into voters. and it might force bush into saying publicly 'i wont ban condoms. contraception is good' which will freak out the freakies. "Kerry leads big among 18-29 year olds (56%-31%)" " Kerry has single voters by 27 points (57%-30%)"

* "Kerry leads in the East (48%-44%) and West (49%-42%), while Bush leads in the South (56%-36%). They are tied in the Central-Great Lakes Region at 43% apiece." kerrys leading where decideds are higher.

* ""Among undecided voters, only 15% feel the President deserves to be re-elected, while 39% say it is time for someone new.""

* the 'other' employment numbers, the household survey showed a loss of 200k jobs. http://maxspeak.org/mt/archives/000823.html

* if jonk calls the bottom 98% 'middle class' ill scream.

* the beeb are doing a loooong zarq bio at 5 past the hour.

* "The world also needs the ability to bring to justice those responsible for such acts. One such instrument is the International Criminal Court (ICC). A recent poll by the Chicago Council of Foreign Relations showed that 76 percent of Americans support American participation on the Court." http://www.prospect.org/web/page.ww?section=root&name=ViewWeb&articleId=8724

* "The handwringing and spitballing over Rather continue, including on foxnews.com, which on Monday published a column speculating that he will soon be "hung out to dry" by CBS. But Fox's own recent embarrassment is passing almost without notice in other media or public discussion. Perhaps that's because it didn't really come as a surprise." http://www.startribune.com/stories/561/5021786.html

* g - have a kerrycosmo 4 me. ill try to do some liveblogging if an interesting thought jumps into my head. and to practise liveblogging. for some reason. wotisitgood4.blogspot.com

* my only prediction is that kerry will list most of the reasons why bush should be disqualified. its a long list.

* (my emailsubject strikes me as very clever at the mo.)
