clearing brush and bicycling

ALL RANDOM
* i took the attached pic today (yep, i was allowed to leave the
dungeon) - it was funny for some reason. i should have edited it
for more effect, but couldnt be fucked.

* "judge Moyer also rejected the voters' requests for a speedy
hearing and an order that elections boards preserve evidence from
the election." today feels like a low hope day. out out damn hope. i hate you too. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&e=1&u=/ap/20041230/ap_on_el_pr/ohio_vote_challenge

* an eye for an eye, and a troop for a troop

* i havent written anything on the tsunami. nothing to add. but the one assumption/thought ive been making is that the death toll will keep doubling. unfortunately, that still seems valid. even today. fuck.

* btw - the Committee on the Present Danger is fucking spooky. we live in such a throwback world. ive no illusions that people dont change, but can we at least change all the fucking people? seems the only thing missing from the old days is outrage. and hope. and marching.

* "Twenty percent of respondents in Europe and Canada said they consciously avoided buying U.S. products as a protest against those policies." and presumably the exchangerate will deter the rest. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/1229-09.htm

* ""Words like 'incoherent' come to mind," one top state department official told me about Rice's effort to organise her office. She is unable to assert herself against Cheney, her wobbliness a sign that the state department will mostly be sidelined as a power centre for the next four years." http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,1380713,00.html

* ive missed ari3 - he is back as a fauxnews 'contributor'. welcome back ari3.

* "...they had better hope that somebody better than Gonzales at vetting is vetting Gonzales. They need him to be attorney general so he can squelch a number of investigations...Gonzales and Bush used the war on terror to justify the United States being a law unto itself. Lynndie England may get nearly four decades in jail. Alberto Gonzales is about to get four years to rewrite our laws." http://www.villagevoice.com/blogs/bushbeat/archive/000617.php
