freedom is on the macho

* when does the (reporting of) fragging in iraq begin?

* "Supporters of the abstinence approach, also called abstinence until marriage, counter that teaching young people about "safer sex" is an invitation to have sex." apparently teaching countries about safer (easier/faster) war is an invitation to have wars. and separately, can someone splain me why abstinence = 'abstinence until marriage'? is it conceivable that say 20 y.o's might wanna get married but not have kids (yet/ever)? is contraception somehow legitimate/effective w/in marriage? on what basis? do the purported problems with condoms stop if u are married? oh yeah - and the ru486 thing is funny. 3 dead women proves that contraception needs to be banned.

* the UN is really corrupt and incompetent, and therefore if the world doesnt agree with amplans to invade any/everyone, they are just being obstructionist/selfish.

* wsjedwhores "But the Administration also seems to hope, and perhaps expect, that the Iranians are bound to again renege in some obvious way on their commitments, and probably sooner than later. At that point, presumably, the President's debt to the Prime Minister will have been paid, and a chagrined Europe will have no choice but to refer the matter to the U.N. Security Council." http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110005965

* "The counterinsurgency blueprint in Iraq is a 182-page field manual distributed to each and every soldier and issued in October by the Pentagon. It's very enlightening to confront its provisions with the reality on the ground in Fallujah - and also take into consideration the fact that the rules of engagement became even "looser"." given that the ams have recently reduced the hurdle (presumably from not a very high std) for grunts getting into the army, i wonder how many of them can be reasonably expected to be able to read and fully comprehend a 180pg document. i wonder how many languages the document was offered in. i wonder if there is a pictoral version. or an audio version. i wonder how many of the grunts actually have the time and/or inclination to read such a document. i wonder how many other such documents they are expected to read. i wonder why this document was issued oonly 3 months ago. i wonder how much pentagese is contained in the document - eg they refer to 'inverted pyramids' - and multisyllabic terms like 'counterinsurgency' and 'rapid augmentation' (i dont even know what that means) the like

* the vfraud thing is slowly seeping into the media consciousness.

* "Republicans have trumpeted the 44 percent figure as evidence of a major shift by Hispanic voters toward the GOP... Revised figures show Bush received 40 percent of the Hispanic vote, not 44 percent... Another pollster, Antonio Gonzalez, president of the Velasquez Institute in Los Angeles, said the group's exit polls showed Bush receiving 35 percent of the Hispanic vote" http://www.knoxstudio.com/shns/story.cfm?pk=EXITPOLLS-LATINO-12-02-04&cat=HR
