CORONATION
* ""Super-Zero Mr. Un-Credible Goes on the Warpath," said the
irreverent Daily Mirror, a British tabloid, calling the president's
speech "bizarre."" gotta love the mirror. *everyone* is freaking
out about the coronation speech.

* bush wants to spread freedom. someone had better call the CDC. real quick.
* i fucking hate the nyt editors - theres a scathing op-ed bit
about the coronation speech - the title given by the crim eds: "The
Speech Misheard Round the World"
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/22/opinion/22patterson.1.html
* juancole does a nice job of taking the president to task re 43's
"we celebrate the durable wisdom of our Constitution"

* murdoch runs a story on the boston terror plot - without really
mentioning that there was no terror plot...
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,12025713%255E1702,00.html
* on the other hand, murdock runs an AP story which opens with the amazing:
"WASHINGTON: Protesters waving signs reading "Worst President
Ever", "The American Nightmare" and "Buck Fush" jeered George W.
Bush's motorcade during yesterday's inauguration parade."
curiously, The Australian is the only paper to actually carry this
story
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/printpage/0,5942,12012048,00.html
* i just noticed another similar AP article which opens thus:
"WASHINGTON - Anti-Bush demonstrators waving signs that said "Worst
President Ever" and "the American Nightmare" jeered the president's
motorcade during the inaugural parade Thursday." funny.

AMDOM
* in case u missed it, mehlmann is now the rnc chair. in case u
missed, mehlmann is gay.
WAR
* will zark be captured b4 the iraqi election?
* "A group of nationals from Iceland slammed their Government's
support of the US-led war in Iraq, apologising to Iraqis in a
full-page advertisement in The New York Times.
The advertisement, paid for with donations from more than 4000
citizens, demanded "that Iceland be immediately removed from the
list of invaders in the 'coalition of the willing'."" i love
iceland. (in case u missed it, the 'coalition of the willing' list
was pulled off the amgovts website in nov.)

* how long till iran or syria or anyone gets pre-emptive on ambutt? some argue that they wouldnt be so silly to do so, cos that wouuld invoke wrath and retaliation - but thats only true if they get caught. how would the badmin know who to retaliate against? it prolly doesnt matter. what if someone who didnt like iran - say, for example israel, conducted an attack on domestic america, and pretended that it was conducted by iran? (or simply left it for the egadmin to assume)
* the sotu is 3 days after the iraqi election. grrr. one imagine the furioussniggerer was just warming up last week... who knows - praps he'll blame the 'trouble' at the iraq election on its neighbours - and he'll announce the new war with the whole world watching. there probably wont be anything as dodgy as the niger claim - why bother any more? it could very well be a busy 10 days.
* we hear all this nonsense about closing the borders in the 3 days leading up to the iraq elections. um - a) why havent we done it before? b) zark and his friends will have to get across the border 4 days before the election.
* along the same lines - worstpresidentever is sposed to be going to europe in feb - what the hell would he be trying to talk to anyone there for? it'd all be a bit awkward no? unless of course there was a new rallying cry - 'we are all americans now, again' or some such.
* get yer 2nd passport
