VOTE
* cnn poll "Should Congress look into the validity of the presidential election results in Ohio? Yes 66% / No 34% " http://edition.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/06/electoral.vote/index.html
* money quote by ' the No. 2 person at the nation's new election watchdog agency'
"As for the long waits at some polling places, he remarked: "I have seen people in Nigeria wait three or four hours in 105-degree temperature in the hot sun. They don't complain and they are pleased to participate in a presidential election.""

* the jonk email " reads like it was written by the caricature of John Kerry that George W. Bush portrayed during the campaign: the indecisive, flip-flopping politician who wants to be on every side of an issue." parry 4 pres http://consortiumnews.com/2005/010605.html
* im not sure if it makes things better or worse - but heres jonks official entry into the record re the challenge http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/1/9/15443/44799 - its a strongish staement, but it reeks of 'ill put this on the record where no-one can see it, but it might come in handy for my run in 2008'
* who loves the washingtontimes? headline re blackwell: "Ohio elections chief ensnared by misstep" alternative headline suggestion "Blackwell is a criminal"
"His campaign's fund-raising coordinator, Jeff Ledbetter, said the printer used a template for an issue committee, which is allowed to accept corporate donations." - sounds like the "the crew made the 'mission accomplished' sign" excuse,
"Mr. Ledbetter told the Columbus Dispatch that no corporate donations had been received in response to the letter." - previously they said theyd return corpse donations

* in a bittersweet twist - it seems that the media is actually trying to belatedly play catch up with the election fraud issue, and the meaning of the challenge. its not obvious whether our efforts actually achieved anything, or whether the media was trying to hold back on stories which are no longer (really) relevant. more faint annoying hope. the cute thing is the the best the media can do is talk about it from the perspective of solo activists - 'with beards', or 'dragging their children through wet streets' or 'under threatening clouds', or 'bloggers' (internet conspiracy types) or 'these people subscribe to the skull&bones thing' - i want the whole fucking profession to be RICO'd
* joshmarshall still hasnt mentioned the challenge. i was grumpy at him before, but he still cant even mention it now that it is fact. granted he has been busy with the socsec thing - but still... not worthy of a mention? even the fucking moonietimes can ignore it. cmon josh...
WART
* this is an awesome article - to quote but once ""It's kind of bad we destroyed everything, but at least we gave them a chance for a new start," said Navy corpsman Derrick Anthony" http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-fallouja7jan07,0,4241908,print.story
* the stupid americans have accidentally bombed the wrong place in iraq twice in consecutive days - killing people who were 'possibly innocent' (for which there is apparently 'deep regret') - reminding me of one of my favourite quotes "bad people have weddings too, ya know"
AMDOM
* rudepundit makes the point that anyone who got offended that poor jesus got hurt in melgibsonsthepassion ought be offended that gonzales is on his way to nomination. http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/2005/01/democratic-pussies-and-jesus-factor.html on a bright note - i saw biden say that he isnt sure if he'll vote for gonzales - despite declaring his love for him.
* "An atheist who sued because he did not want his young daughter exposed to the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance has filed a suit to bar the saying of a prayer at President Bush's inauguration." i love newdow. i hope to dog that he wins. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/inauguration_prayer
* some people are up in arms about this proposed new virginian law for some reason "Report of fetal death by mother; penalty. Provides that when a fetal death occurs without medical attendance, it shall be the woman's responsibility to report the death to the proper law-enforcement agency within 12 hours of the delivery. Violation of this section shall be punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor" (12 months jail) - happy miscarriage muthafucka - there has been some backtracking "we are trying to save trashcan babies" - for how long have i been predicting this sort of nonsense? how long till they charge the mums with murder for falling over? http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?051+sum+HB1677
* i wonder where blogging would be if Gore won in 2000
