VOTE
* heres xymph from a few days ago (b4 the latest attacks) "Within hours of the confirmation of the election of Mahmoud Abbas to lead the Palestinians, Ariel Sharon urged Abbas to end terrorist attacks and to dismantle Islamic militant groups (Sharon may have even tried to limit the scope of a meeting with Abbas to discussions of security cooperation). Since Abbas has no more ability to restrain the militants than Arafat had, we can see how Abbas is being immediately set up in exactly the same way that Arafat was. There will be much talk of how the election of Abbas will finally give Israel that elusive 'negotiating partner', and that peace is just around the corner. Once a few 'terrorist' incidents occur, however, the Israelis will sadly conclude that Abbas is just another Arafat, and clearly not a 'negotiating partner' as his failure to restrain the militants indicates that he really doesn't want peace." http://xymphora.blogspot.com/2005/01/abbas-arafated.html the beeb just now 'israel has frozen all contact'

WART
* btw - i saw graners lawyer on the teeve - he was asked why the court didnt hear from graner, despite the lawyer telling the court in his opening statements that they would hear from graner. he replied 'they did hear from him. vicariously. through the evidence that we presented' (i cant find the actual quote) - can we pleasepleaseplease have our language back? it drives me batty.

* "The US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, yesterday tapped into deepening international concern about a clandestine nuclear programme in Iran, warning that Tehran was actively working to develop a bomb. Mr Rumsfeld's remarks, delivered during a visit to Germany, appeared to be aimed at exerting pressure on Tehran and the UN's nuclear monitoring agency." he went to germany??? isnt he officially wanted as a warcriminal there? "Mr Rumsfeld also accused Tehran of seeking to infiltrate its clerics into Iraq and undermine the US occupation administration. "We're going to actively oppose any Iranian influence in that country that attempts to make Iraq an Iran-type model and we'll do it with words to start with and we'll do it energetically," Mr Rumsfeld said. " Iranian influence bad. aminfluence good. "President Khatami acknowledged this week that there was a danger Iran could be next." how the fuck did we get to a point where 'could be next' didnt need further expansion?

* btw - i know (obviously) that i pour vitriolic scorn on the AP whenever they deserve it (most every day (nee, article)) - but ive never really seen anyone criticise them. its astonishing to me. they are *appalling*. everyone else seems to get hit every day - whether its cbs or washtimes or wapo or nyt. the AP's crimes are more egregious than any of them. and their reach much larger.

QUAKER
* fuck i hate the media. again, i want them all in orange on rico charges, or mass murder charges. heres a wapo story from sfgate http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/01/13/MNGATAPKNF1.DTL - but wapo has scrubbed itself of the story but in a nice twist, google ads gives the story away because the ads are for tsunami relief et al. heres some of the (now hidden) text "A Virginia-based missionary group said this week that it had airlifted 300 tsunami orphans from the Muslim province of Banda Aceh to Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, where it plans to raise them in a Christian children's home...
"Normally, Banda Aceh is closed to foreigners and closed to the gospel, but because of this catastrophe, our partners there are earning the right to be heard and providing entrance for the gospel,"... The appeal said WorldHelp was working with native-born Christians in Indonesia who want to "plant Christian principles as early as possible" in the 300 Muslim children, all younger than 12, who lost their parents in the tsunami... "These children are homeless, destitute, traumatized, orphaned, with nowhere to go, nowhere to sleep and nothing to eat," it said. "If we can place them in a Christian children's home, their faith in Christ could become the foothold to reach the Aceh people."... "These are children who are unclaimed or unwanted... These children are going to be raised in a Christian environment."... "First and foremost, our intention is not to evangelize but to show the love of Jesus Christ through our acts of compassion... We just want to show the genuineness of our faith. We have no ulterior motive here." Brewer said." - yeah - well heres a fucking question - why do u do whatever u need to do to get the story pulled from a website? and separately, given that there are stories of kids being stolen as sexslaves, and given that you fucking christians are paying out hundreds of millions of $ in 'compensation' for raping kids, why dont u just keep your dirty fucking morals at home? and can u please stop it with your 'we are stealing kids for a good reason - the others stealing kids are really bad tho' story. i know the points are separate but a) dont fuck kids b) dont steal kids c) dont brainwash kids d) dont bury your fucking stories. e) dont (further) corrupt the media. if the story sounds bad - its probably becuase it is. fuck these people drive me nutty. keep yer fucking hands off our kids. and off our textbooks. and off the media. and off the govt. if u wanna be fucking psycho, then dont taint the rest of us. come save us philnewdow. at least a wapo reporter was able to mention the previous days article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A5018-2005Jan12.html and please, can u stop fucking voting? and please, if u wanna insist that evolution is just a theory, thats fine. but the best youve got is a story. not a theory. so shutup. if only for the christian reason that you drive reasonable people fucking insane. or u kill them. neither of which is xtian. if u feel the need to kidnap toddlerflesh, pleasepleaseplease keep your fucking kidnapping within your own churches. and pleasepleaseplease dont call in the military when u get shot at. and pleasepleaseplease dont use the 'wont somebody please think of the children' line. the ragheads already hate us for our freedoms - lets not incite them to hate us for the um liberties we take with their children. seriously.

AMDOM
* i hope we see a kent state moment at the inauguration. apologies in advance for those who die - if its any consolation, it might save the lives of tens of thousands. id volunteer myself if i could be there and if there was the slightest chance it would work.

* does the jihadmin actually have a committee of 'how to royally fuck things up'? seriously (which seems to be my favoriate word at the mo), its hard to imagine that they could be as bad as they are without a really effective organising body. and yet somehow they *still* havent collapsed into a ball of self-disdain - it doesnt seem to matter what leaks into the reality-sphere - somehow they manage to keep afloat. its actually quite astonishing. its somehow more than just keeping the balls in the air - ive been saying for 2 years that there is 20-odd individual reasons why they ought collapse - but they still look largely impervious - yet simultaneously very weak. astonishing.

* "Usually, 218 lawmakers - a majority of the 435 members of Congress - are required to conduct House business, such as passing laws or declaring war. But under the new rule, a majority of living congressmen no longer will be needed to do business under ``catastrophic circumstances.'' Instead, a majority of the congressmen able to show up at the House would be enough to conduct business, conceivably a dozen lawmakers or less." ouch. 12 folk declaring more war. im not sure if that is more or less than last time. 'a dozen lawmakers or less' is such a fuck of the english language that it conceivably means more than minus one. can i have my language back? and my brain? and my world?
