DRUG WEAD

WAR
* juancole "Breaking News: Lebanese Government Resigns in Face of VideoClip Revolution" - lol - he doesnt mention the signs by rendon.

* amygoodman: "Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas has recommended to President Bush that the U.S. consider attacking Syria with nuclear weapons. Johnson recently told a church gathering, "Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore." amy doesnt mention that the church audience cheered...

* "the head of Israel's intelligence agency told Cabinet Ministers Sunday that the chances of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon being assassinated by hard-line Israelis is rapidly increasing because of his support of removing settlements in Gaza." LINK
i think i lost this reference in the great crash of (feb)29 - someone mentioned it on the sunday shows - blitzer i think

* the thing about withdrawing syrian forces from lebanon - syria also has to remove their secret services, apparently. of course, what will happen is that syria will try to comply, but still get attacked cos they cant prove that their secret forces are withdrawn...

* how long till turkey gets sucked in? (via agonist/xymph)

* xymph on telaviv "If your goal is to kill yourself in a suicide bombing in order to frame the Palestinian Authority, why would you leave behind a videotape which admits your plan and thus completely undermines the frame-up?"

* praps the southpark crew could do a rewrite of their BlameCanada - changing it to BlameSyria.

NOTGANNON
* is the notgannon thing slowly oozing to the surface? its hard to tell... it has looked like doing so for a month...

* when my puter crashed - i lost a long post - so im not sure what disappeared... probably lots of brilliant perceptive insights by yours truly. one that ive just noticed missing is the shoutout to georgias new gig. i heart georgia.

DRUG WEAD
* Laura Bush: "I think it's very odd and awkward, to be perfectly frank, to tape someone while you're talking to them on the phone, and they don't know it, and then come out with the tapes later. I don't know if I'd use the word 'betrayed,' but I think it's a little bit awkward for sure." LINK
bushie, if u were angry about it, betrayed would be a pretty easy word to use. btw - bushbeat is all over this story - altho im not sure even they believe my take on it... but a sterling history of wead nonetheless. spooky. amway meets Dog. "Preacher, peddler, and Beltway meddler Doug Wead, who selectively released furtively recorded conversations with George W. Bush, told me this morning that he has changed his mind and will turn over book profits to charity and the tapes to Bush." there could very well be a relship between the ward tapes and gannon - and that would spook everyone out, about everything, once and for all. amway meets xtian Right meets global presidential power.

* meanwhile howie falls straight in "Doug Wead may have done George Bush a favor.
Don't get me wrong... The word betrayal is the mildest one I can think of." suckerpunch. watching these people try to dance around the 'facts' is hysterical. blinky took pot, but he loves ashcroft and gays, and boy - he really is consistent - like he always said. he sure dont flipflop. boy - that friend isnt really a friend - altho he went to states where it was legal. yada

* apparently Wead quotes the tapes 'briefly' in his book - itll be interesting to see when that book went into print (released jan5). itll also be interesting to see how 'briefly' he quotes the tapes - and how directly... presumably he didnt mention the tapes in the book - otherwise the furor would have began earlier... ftr - its amazon ranking is 4890 - which doesnt seem very high... if u were releasing the tapes for marketing purposes, wouldnt u think u'd do it prior to the release... the guy is sposed to be an uber-salesman for x's sake.

MEDIA
* georgia points to my friends helen & harry at unknownnews. lovely to see.

* everyone is in a tizz cos of jonahgoldbergs latest comments. and coulters. and everyone else. its astonishing that these people are in the discourse. truly astonishing.

* mishal hussein is back on the beeb - yummmm

* speaking of yummmm - how bout that woman on the hello-moto adverts? yumm

* g points to this one from cnn - headline: "Federal judge finds 2 bodies in her home". if u read it, u can actually discern that the two bodies are her husband and her mum. "Family Slain" may have been a less/more intriguing headline. praps it was just an early version of the story...

* fauxnews is mad at robertbyrd. they also think that the filibuster means that the dems disagree with "majority rules". going nukular.

* ari1 writes a book. nyt slams it.

OTHER STUFF
* blinky jokes about drunks. "all drunks are welcome"

* the anti.c.rice calls off a meeting with the egyptians. ""To attend a conference on democracy in Egypt right now would be the height of irony,"" LINK
these fucking people...

* and the anti.c.rice calls off a meeting with the canadians. stamp them dominatrix-heels hunny. itll get all those redfolk hot and sweaty. at least she met with her friend tony blair.

* some are wondering whether hst really killed himself - not surprisingly. for some reason they think its weird that he splattered his bits around the house when his fam was there, and when he was on the phone to his wife.

* "Paul Wolfowitz Considered to Head World Bank" LINK (i also saw somewhere on the teeve that bono is being considered. yes - *that* bono. lol. as if. has negroponte been replaced in iraq yet?

* the custer battles thing was always funny - and getting funnier
