DELAY STUFF
* "The larger question is whether Justice—run by Bush's buddy Alberto Gonzales—will aggressively seek evidence that could lead to DeLay or to other Republicans in Congress. "I just don't know that they have the stomach for it," said a lawyer close to the probe... While DeLay constructs an Alamo of his own devising, it's not entirely clear whether the president is happy to be in the fort with him. He may soon have additional reason to keep his distance from the whole DeLay crowd... For now at least, Rove remains on the barricades with the majority leader. "We strongly support Tom DeLay," he told CNN. "He's a good man, a close ally of this administration." " LINK
karl, say it early, say it loud, say it often.
* " House Majority Leader Tom DeLay met with the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal Friday. Last month, that paper was sharply critical of DeLay and his repeated ethics problems. Editorial page editor Paul Gigot said the majority leader did not seem defensive when it came to the allegations against him. DeLay told the board, "I've never felt stronger than I do right now. The members have never been more supportive."" LINK
* "Bogus technicalities and press excesses aside, though, the whole Abramoff-Reed-DeLay story is pretty wonderful. You gotta love the basic plot line of a Washington lobbyist organizing a religious campaign against gambling on behalf of gambling interests trying to block competition." LINK
