off the front page

THEMEMO STUFF
* the NYT got a new 'ombudsman' ( recently retired as a top editor at The Wall Street Journal) - he has stepped up in advance of actually starting work to comment on coverage of TheMemo. go check out the feeble reponses to his questions - 'we didnt know it was news' etc LINK

* pincus does another piece on how they lied in the buildup to the war - and wapo puts it on A26. e.g. "Moreover, a close reading of the recent 600-page report by the president's commission on intelligence, and the previous report by the Senate panel, shows that as war approached, many U.S. intelligence analysts were internally questioning almost every major piece of prewar intelligence about Hussein's alleged weapons programs." LINK
can we please stop it with this "Everyone thought that he WMD" nonsense. i saw it again on mtp this morning.
UPDATE: wapo *literally* moved this off the front page to p26 LINK

* "SENIOR American congressmen are considering sending a delegation to London to investigate Britain’s role in preparations for the war in Iraq." LINK
conyers trying to keep the stove hot.

* bobparry: "Even now, facing the leaked Downing Street memo, the White House apparently remains confident that it simply can deny the facts.
No objective observer, however, could look at the known facts, match them against Bush’s historical claims, and conclude anything other than that Bush is lying, that he is consciously deceiving the American people." LINK
people are pulling their hair out over this... its like the frank grimes simpsons episode.
