AMDOM STUFF
* "But now, after holding the (two 16 yo) girls for six weeks in a Pennsylvania detention center, the government has quietly released one of the girls and is allowing the other to leave the country with her family... Many questions remain unanswered in a case that has been marked from the start by secrecy, including closed hearings, sealed F.B.I. declarations, and orders barring the lawyers from disclosing government information." LINK

* dbrooks: "Don't take people at their word." LINK

* tradesports has bolton's confirmation at 85 - which seems a bit high - i wonder what the odds would be if the contract sed 'bolton getting confirmed without any rules being broken'

* "Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Sunday that foreign oil companies working in the country must pay taxes he insists they owe the country, or else leave the country." LINK
hmmmmm. sounds like...

* "Remember this story from a couple of weeks ago? "Dragnet nabs 10,000 fugitives" I wondered whether it was practice for some other kind of roundup. I hesitate to consider what kind.
It was the most random of events. The silence other than the initial announcement has been deafening. What was the message? Anyone?" LINK

* im soooooooooo sick of variations of the word "demagogic" - please stop.

* "No, the real difference between Blair and Bush is not whether the electorate delivered them a stern rebuke -- it did in both cases -- but whether they took that rebuke to heart and accepted that they had made serious mistakes. After his reelection, Tony Blair said, "I have listened, and I have… learnt. And I think I have a very clear idea of what the British people now expect from this government." Bush, by contrast, told us he had a mandate to remake the country is his ultra-conservative wingnut image." LINK

* " "I can't imagine how Orrin Hatch can keep a straight face," Reid toldThe Salt Lake Tribune editorial board. "I don't know how, within the framework of intellectual honesty, he can say the things he does."" LINK

* krug: "Repealing Mr. Bush's tax cuts would yield enough revenue to call off his proposed (socsec) benefit cuts, and still leave $8 trillion in change." LINK

* " In the (18 months) since Tom Noe learned that 121 rare coins bought with Ohio (pension) money were missing and possibly stolen in Colorado, he has done several things... But there's one thing he hasn't done: Contacted law enforcement authorities." LINK
ohio is a cesspool of fetusfreaks.

* fox is running a program called "bulls&bears: the cost of freedom" - i cant turn off the mute (for sanity reasons) - but they are showing pix of kerry, dean, clinton and tedkennedy with the caption 'against investing?' - whenever fox puts a question mark in a caption, its not difficult to imagine them trying to avoid a lawsuit...
