Schiavo Republicans

* "MOveOn has already announced an ad buy, which will bring Terri Schiavo into the Supreme Court mix, hoping to suggest the threat of an 'extremist' justice" LINK
awesome. as the RudePundit said at the time, lets call them 'Schiavo Republicans'. over and over. and over. what a shit fight we are gonna see. sandra day oconnor has promised to stay around till someone else is confirmed, i hope she hasnt made any holiday plans... (i wonder what happens if rhenquist leaves in the meantime)

* " Iraq's U.N. ambassador accused U.S. Marines on Friday of firing at and killing his cousin in cold blood during a house raid near the western town of Haditha on June 25." LINK

* "Federal agents on Friday searched the California home of U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, along with the yacht in Washington, D.C.... Agents from the FBI,
Internal Revenue Service and the Defense Department's criminal investigative service also searched the Washington offices of (MZM)" LINK

* "What started as a potential case of intentionally leaking the identity of an agent has now become about perjury and obstruction of justice in an attempt to conceal White House involvement in fixing the intelligence that led to war. Cooper and Miller were all over the prewar intelligence beat, so they become keys to understanding how the White House went from propagandists fighting CIA skeptics over WMD to triumphal victors haranguing their doubtors to well meaning victims of bad intelligence. The Plame disclosure happened right in the middle of the transformation, which means that it draws attention to both the WH role in the fixing of intelligence and its efforts to deny that role." LINK
hmmmm. will fitzgerald turn out to be a hero?

* conyers: "Today, 51 Members and I took the Downing Street Investigation to the next level by filing a Freedom of Information Act request with the White House, the Pentagon, and the State Department. We also made a formal request for hearings with the Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, International Relations, Armed Services, and Intelligence.
The FOIA request is critical because a response by the Administration is mandatory under the law. They may try to claim some of the requested material is exempt or subject to redaction, but at the end of the day they will have to say something. And whatever they say, it will help advance our investigation." LINK

* " A Randy Forbes (R-VA) bill would give the government power to deport any immigrant who was associated with a gang deemed undesirable by law enforcement authorities. This is not the America I know, where due process is thrown out the window, and immigrants are routinely scapegoated." LINK
a couple of months ago, i asked why Oreilly and others were pushing 'gang' stories. i guess we now know.
