Francis Fukuyama

* Francis Fukuyama gets some op-ed space in the nyt. his piece is quite sobering - even though the piece drips still drips with self-delusion. Fukuyama is perhaps one of the only 'real' neocons - in the intellectual and ideological sense - as opposed to the dirty so-called 'neocons' who are just war mongers and imperialists. still - its quite disconcerting to read him, watching him lie to himself as he desperately hangs on to blatant untruths. the title of the article points to the dishonesty that is to follow: "Invasion of the Isolationists"

* the London Times runs a piece titled: "Bomb suspect will 'help police'" - except the guy isnt a bomb suspect, and he cant help them cos he doesnt know anything - altho they pulled the quote from him saying "They have damaged my life and my family. But if they ask me, I would help them.”"

* there were no bombers living in dead brazilians apartment building (link)

* LATimes ed: "(boltons amendments are) a slap in the face for the aid organizations and international donors that have been working for years toward meeting the Millennium Development Goals. But it's far worse than that for the Third World, where their abandonment would be a death sentence for millions."
put that on yer gravestone, muthafucka.

* "Graeme Maynard, 39, an alcoholic living near Rochdale, was jailed for 30 months yesterday by Bolton Crown Court for planting a hoax bomb outside an Asian restaurant in response to the July 7 attacks.
A convicted paedophile, burglar and arsonist, he told police that he “wanted the Asian community to be in fear”. He made the fake bomb in his garage, using cooking oil and a mobile phone, after drinking eight cans of lager while watching reports on the July bombings. The device was left outside a restaurant in Rochdale, Lancashire, with a note that read: “Any more then we start, this is a last warning.”" (link)
thats the entire story. theres something odd about it - i cant quite separate which bits are the oddest. the fact that they gave him every possible negative label? or the 30 month jail sentence? that seems kinda long - not that i have any sympathy for racist faux-terrorists. how long would patrobertson get for his recent incitement?

lol - its odd right - perhaps the seventh sin is that he is christian.

if so, at least they were trying to paint him as not being 'mainstream'
