fuck the salvos

* juancole tears the hitch apart - piece. by. piece. not that it even counts as sport. (salon)

* "White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan had not had a full-length press briefing in Washington, D.C. for weeks, and after today, may have wished he had postponed this one. With almost unprecedented vigor, the press corps attacked and probe the federal response to the hurricane disaster, the president's personal responsibility and failure to fire anyone who failed in his or her mission." (link)

* blinky: "What I intend to do is lead an investigation to find out what went right and what went wrong"
Ari2: " we're going to make sure we find out what the facts were and what went wrong and what went right."
blinky can follow his talking points better than ari2 - its perfect luntzian to say "what went right" first - watch for the message discipline to kick in - every time the mention the 'investigation' (that blinky is 'leading') is mentioned, they'll try to focus on 'what went right' - despite the apparent reality that *nuthin* went right.

* "The Salvation Army conducted an outside religious service that included songs such as “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
“Natural disaster is caused by the sin in the world,” said Maj. John Jones, the group’s area commander. “The acts of God are what happens afterwards … all the good that happens.”" (link)
fuck the salvos (altho they did help my brother)

* i only get one american cable news channel here - fox (i also get cnbc, cnn international, the bbc, and murdoch's Sky (which includes the australian Sky News, and the UK sky news, and the ABC news bulletin and the CBS news bulletin)) - in any case, Fox had a live feed of Rehnquists corpse running for hours last night - did the other american cable channels run with the corpse as well? it reminds me of the reagan funeral. shudder.
