* i saw something remarkable of wolf blitzer - they had a panel discussing libby and rove - jeralyn from talkleft, jonathon turley and whatsername crier from court tv. there was nobody spouting whitehouse talking points. it was truly amazing to watch.
* the other interesting thing on the teeeve was coburn (R-Hack) on mtp telling an incredulous timmeh that he can tell when people are lying from their body language - a lesson he learned in his medical (mal)practice. coburn uses his special powers in the senate hearings and such. lets hope he never has to read any transcripts because he'd miss all of nuance. all of us like to think we can pick liars, but the reality is that the only group of people that does better than 50/50 chance in actually picking liars is spies. ftr, my favourite 'tells' are when someone touches their nose, and less so, when people shift their weight on their feet - interestingly, i saw a vid of blinky's 16-words in the sotu, and he shifted feet as he said it.
the problem for coburn is that good liars are good at hiding their 'tells' - and he said he was comfortable with gay john roberts because he didnt tell any lies. i'd argue that someone as smooth as roberts, with his years of lawyering, is probably very good at what he does - and the lessons learned in a medical malpractice, to the extent that they are valid, simply dont hold for the smoothest lawyers in the land.
