Michael Scanlon (R-Abramoff), (R-DeLay), (R-Club Fed)

* "Michael Scanlon, a former top congressional aide who became a partner of high-flying lobbyist Jack Abramoff, was charged today with conspiracy to bribe government officials and cheat Indian tribes out of millions of dollars... Scanlon has agreed to plead guilty and cooperate in the ongoing bribery and public corruption investigation of Abramoff, members of Congress and executive branch officials." (link)
ouch. imagine what he knows... popcorn, anyone?

* further to my comment yesterday that brithume said that murtha was "usually pro-defense", the AP joins in: " a usually pro-military congressman". (link)
fuckers.

* john dean urges fitz to get waaaaaaaay more agressive: "With all due respect, Mr. Fitzgerald, I believe you are being had. I believe that you were selected with the expectation that you would conduct the narrowest of investigations, and it seems you have done just that.
The leak of Valerie Wilson's status did not occur in a vacuum. Republicans in Congress do not want to know what truly happened. You are the last, best hope of the American people in this regard." (link)

* tom maguire argues that armitage might be booby woodwards source (the Righties hate State (at least till COndi got there))

* ron at WhyAreWeBack makes a couple of good points re booby woodward: 1) woodward sent a bunch of questions to cheney - but apparently they werent handed over to Fitz in the original subpoena 2) booby keeps referring to his notes where there was no mention of plame, but he should also probably have a tape-recording of the interview...

* laura: "Harris Poll: " ... The biggest fall of all since August is in the number of adults who think the country is moving in the right direction, which has dropped ten points from 37 percent to 27 percent. ..." Holy mackerel. Three out of four Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. That would seem to portend an awful lot of political instability, wouldn't it?"
thats a 25% collapse in 3 months.

* meanwhile, the hotline poll sez that GOPers who are claiming the country off-track has jumped 30+% from 29% to 41% in *a single month*
