* apparently the dukestir has sold his new house - and he only made 2% on the sale - even though he's had the house for two years. i understand that the market isnt what it used to be - especially in san diego - but i'd be quite surprised if the market is back to where it was 24 months ago.
this is a little bit more than academic - because there was always something fishy going on with the second home, even tho it didnt get as much attention as when duke sold his original home to Wade.
cunninghams top 2 donors were lockheed and titan, next was a corrupt company called peregrine, and fourth was Wade's company, mzm. as luck would have it, the duke bought his new house from one of the top guys at peregrine (perhaps the duke and he will end up living together behind bars). the obvious question was whether the Duke paid market value. given the recent sale price, it sounds like the duke didnt get a cut on that deal - which is quite surprising...
this all reminded me of the real estate agent - Elizabeth Todd - remember her? her first 2 deals in real estate were the duke's sale, then purchase of his homes. as it happens, her family was a big cunningham donor $10k+. i dont think anyone ever got to the bottom of this part of the story - but there's obviously something going on here.
according to this article, "Todd was never paid for providing the list of comps, and the transaction occurred without the involvement of a Realtor." - apparently all she did was write a list - and she wasnt otherwise involved, and didnt get paid - and the duke was so taken aback by her charm and/or selling skills (even tho she'd never sold anything), that he immediately hired her to buy him a new house. (elizabeth and her husband now have their own real estate firm, dealing in the same price bracket)
if there are any aspiring journalists out there with a moment to spare, there's a story for you. go chase it. i guarantee you'll find something.
