more truthiness

here's The Other Mike from the comments:
"I'm still hung up on motive. I don't believe that all this treasonous activity has been done merely to line the pockets of some ALREADY rich scumbags. I'm familiar with the "normal" motives (profit, imperialism, idealogy, caving to corporate agendas) and the "conspiratorial" motives (Bilderberg/CFR theories ala Alex Jones). "
a quick comment - there's no such thing as "ALREADY rich" - people like money, and more of it. there's not a rich (or poor) person who considers themselves 'satisfactorily rich'. period. everyone wants more money. everyone. i don't begrudge them - but let's be clear - money is always a motive. it doesnt matter if the person is broke, or a billionaire. where Other Mike says that he doesnt understand motive, i know differently. people will do crazy shit for money - and it doesn't matter how wealthy people are. look at murdoch for example - i don't think that anyone really sees him as anything but a moneygrubber- but yet he is willing to create multiple wars purely becuase it gives him a money-making audience. the wars dont matter but the money does. do we need a better example?

in my time, i've dealt with many millionaires and billionaires. legitimate and illegitimate. consistently, the only thing they want is 'more'. there is no such thing as 'enough'. thats ok - i understand it - but lets not forget that the motivation for 'more' is universal - even if its the ubiquitous 'just a little bit more.'

money = motive. end of story.

The thing I keep thinking about is nuclear proliferation. One nuke set off by a terrorist group could lead to the end of humanity as countries escalate their responses to such an attack.

Wouldn't government officials taking part in such activities worry about being executed for high treason? And if they aren't worried, what accounts for their lack of concern...ie...is this illegal and highly treasonous activity state sponsored?

yeah - i worry about nuclear proliferation/armageddon too - sometimes i think the best thing we could do for the planet is just get rid of the humans - it might be the only way to save all the other species.

"One nuke set off by a terrorist group could lead to the end of humanity as countries escalate their responses to such an attack."
similarly, one nuke set off by a State could have the same effect - and the USG has recently codified it's 'right' to use nukes 'pre-emptively'

"Wouldn't government officials taking part in such activities worry about being executed for high treason?"
i think it was Franklin who said "we'd better hang together, or we'll hang separately" - i don't think they really care very much about the death threat - i wouldnt be surprised if they all carry their cyanide pills with them, in prepartion for the time that suicide becomes the best option.

is it state-sponsored? i think the best way to think about it is that these criminals (eg perle) are given some cover by other criminals (eg cheney) who happen to operate with the cover of a State.
