as american as apple pie.

* in a surprise twist, Damien finds a journo in Australia defending Fox as being "Fair&Balanced":
"Check for yourself how the network has shows with hosts and commentators from both the Left and Right, and gives both sides an equal opportunity to present their case. See, for instance, Hannity and Colmes, News Watch, Britt Hume's show, the Beltway Boys and more. Even Bill O'Reilly is scrupulous in inviting on those with whom he disagrees. You might not like individual presenters, the raucous tone or the fact that this free debate allows people to speak that you'd rather shut up, but those are very different objections to your claim that Fox News is not balanced."
the surprising bit is that the journo works for a Murdoch rag. this is what we call 'economies of scope' (or circle-jerking)

* oldschool:
"Zinni rocked, hit all the right notes - powerful stuff. Only one complaint, in that he refused to lay any blame at Bush's feet - poor ole GWB just got bad info, that's all...

Eventually, somebody is going to come right out and say the word "LIE". L.I.E. As in "he LIED". Small word, three letters, rhymes with a lotta things - like Apple PIE. It has of course been used by lots and lots of Americans, but it needs to be spoken by someone with a *big* name, with *big* clout. When that word is spoken in the right place, it'll be a Walter Cronkite moment... it'll catch, and that will be the beginning of the end."
as american as apple pie.

* a good 15 min interview with larisa here. she came up with a great idea - if we can't charge the military for torturing people, perhaps we can charge them for creating/owning child pornography because they have videos of raping boys. as american as apple pie.
