THE PRESIDENT CHENEY

* jeralyn: "The Wall Street Journal today published article by Brody Mullins on Michael Scanlon and his former fiance Emily Miller. It fails to credit investigative journalist Jason Leopold who broke the story in January."
she has more, including an email from leopold.

* according the transcripts, "(KSM) said other possible targets were the Sears Tower, the White House and the foreign Embassy in Washington." (link)
wouldn't those buildings on embassy row be kinda difficult to hit with a plane?

* "(KSM) comes across as a hands-on, midlevel manager who sometimes handled details, like perusing a San Diego telephone book he bought at a market in Karachi, Pakistan, for English-language schools and flight schools." (link)
of course he did.

* " The 9/11 Commission investigation detailed that British intelligence directly told U.S. officials on September 13, 2001, that Moussaoui had attended a training camp in Afghanistan. "Had this information been available in late August 2001, the Moussaoui case would almost certainly have received intense, high-level attention," the commission concluded. As it turns out, Samit had that info in late August 2001 and nobody cared. CIA Director George Tenet was briefed on the Moussaoui threat on August 23. The case received intense, high-level attention. Nobody cared." (link)
note that this is 2 weeks after the PDB

* from the whitehouse's transcript of Tony Snow blowing interviewing Cheney:
"Q Okay. A couple of things, I think a couple of minutes ago -- I want to make sure -- you said Osama bin Laden wasn't involved in 9/11 planning. You meant Saddam Hussein, correct? That Saddam Hussein was not involved in September 11th?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Correct. Yes, sir.

Q Okay.

THE PRESIDENT CHENEY: Thanks for straightening that out. I didn't realize I'd done that. (Laughter.)

Q Yes. Well, otherwise we'd have a whole lot more stories to deal with.

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Oh, yes. All right. Well, I appreciate it."

That Samit article is very interesting. Not sure if Jeff Taylor is seriously suggesting FBI headquarter's bizarre actions are due to mere incompetence or careerism. One would think dropping the ball on a chance to prevent 9/11 would be bad for someone's career. Oddly enough, I believe Mr. Frasca was promoted after 9/11.
